What sort of wifi access point do you have at present? If it's apple airport you just buy another and set it up to extend your existing network, or you can get wifi extenders from dick smith and jaycar that essentially do the same thing.

You can buy WiFi extenders. They just plug into a power point that is within range of your modem and repeat the signal out further.

It's nothing to do with your wifi mate, the iGrill connects via Bluetooth & unless you stay very close to it you will continuously drop out.

Far out...yeah, people use wifi and bluetooth interchangeably these days for reasons beyond my comprehension. If its true wifi then you can get an extender, if its bluetooth (not wifi technically), then not sure about options for extending that. The kickstarter project originally mentioned gets around this by providing a base station that acts as a bridge between bluetooth and wifi.

I've backed this as well - getting the 4-probe kit with the charger stand. Will post up a review once it gets here!

What a jealous.
It raised 1.25M dollars.
I think that I can develop it in 10K dollars, never over 20K dollars.
The Bluetooth and battery things must be inside the black head of probe.
Say If you have 20 to 30 CM long probe, You insert 15 or 25cm inside grill and leave the 5cm black head outside.
Black head temp. must be under 150C or even colder. Electronics must be able to survive.
the WiFi station is something like my wGrill.
But wGrill needs to add converter of Bluetooth to WiFi.
In China we already have digital temp. probe, which is around US$2, yes I can buy it at TWO dollars.
I need only to add a button battery inside.
I am upgrading wGrill.
There will be two types.
One needs to install APP on Android phone, very easy to access to Internet. But there is a fee of US$10 each year.
The other type does not install APP and can be viewed by most browsers say IE,Chrome,Firefox ect.
You can visit its I.P. address over Internet and there is no service fee.
But it needs basic I.T. knowledge to set it up to internet
The probe will be inserted into wGrill by wire.
If I add Bluetooth inside probe, and Bluetooth/WiFi conveter inside wGrill,
It is same thing as this kickstarter project.
Technically it is EASY
Again US$10K to 20K is good enough to develop all these.
Why 1.25 Million US dollars.

My poor English makes thing hard.
But still I read the project word by word.
It is really something.
The Bluetooth thing can be put inside grill and can withstand 275C.
Our team discuss it and sad to find out that we can not do it.
It is really a technically magic.
It is really worth of M1.25$

Still waiting on arrival of the Meater. We continue to get semi regular updates from the developers. Hopefully in another couple of months we will have the Meater here & enjoying it.

I have the Weber® 6741 wireless thermometer with twin Probes :D

It comes pre-programmed with recommended temperatures and times so you never have to guess when the roast is ready.

The two stainless steel probes allow you to have one to check your ribs, while the other checks your pork roast and the timer function with countdown and alarm helps keep you aware of times.
Storage is easy, by simply placing the thermometer on the docking station when not in use.

You can walk around with the bluetooth receiver attached to your belt or left in your pocket, so you know what is happening and with the transmitter staying in the vicinity of the Weber BBQ
An experienced cook & now a Weber Baby 'Q' devotee...
it's a very different world where you can smell but can't see what's happening with your food
