Gourmet grill grate for Weber kettles

Post by Davo »

I went and bought a Gourmet grill grate for my Weber Performer on the weekend with the intention to add to the centre pieces that are available such as a griddle pan, Cast Iron grill grate and wok for stir fries. Not sure i'll bother with the chicken sitter insert but you never know.
Weber makes a lot of Money on their accessories but they are good quality and will last a long time.

This is my Kettle with the Gourmet grill

And these are the inserts you can buy for this grill grate which gives your kettle a vast versatility from it's standard form.

With this arrangement Paul you can use it for direct especially with the inserts available but allows you to place foods on the side for indirect. It's really good for high heat indirect grilling and using the convection of the Kettle for even cooking.
I've been watching videos on using the Weber Wok with these grill grates and can't wait to try one.

With all the accessories now available for the Weber Kettle has made these awesome BBQs more popular then ever before...not just what's available from Weber but from 3rd party fabricators.

Don't think so....what is the diameter of your KK? Anyway your type of cooker is so much different to a kettle that is 22.5 inches or 57cms. the fire is closer for a start.....
I'd love to get a 57cm WSM as the accessories for the kettle and WSM are interchangeable.

Time you bought a Weber kettle for the smaller cook -ups maybe Paul and leave the KK for the big jobs.

Cheers

This new gourmet grate Dane is miles better than even the standard flip end grates as the grill bars are so much thicker and stronger and hold more heat. It's a real solid unit.

Yes I agree about how much accessories are but i have Weber Grill trays, rib and roast racks and trivets that are first class quality....I bought the kettle Kone last year and that has lifted grilling to an entire level....i'm looking forward to buying the wok, griddle and cast iron grill insert for them.....about $210 for the 3 of them. The Wok comes with a tray insert for steaming foods like veggies or fish and has a lid...that is the most expensive of the extras....but then...I want a rottiserie for it too and they are almost $250...that can wait.
