Napoleon vs Weber SM

Post by Charstone1 »

G'day all,

Stocking up for Christmas charcoal I found this:

https://firebrandbbq.com.au/product/nap ... -1-smoker/

A bit of googling suggests it is a decent competitor to the Weber Smokey Mountain - and great price. Does any one have any opinions or experience with one of these?

Cheers,

Charstone

When I used to own a WSM I was very happy with it...The principle is the same lots of room and great results...

I just like the versatility of cooking on a refractionary cooker now, like any kamado type...
The price still seems bit steep 600 dollars (well 5 dollars change) but I appreciate that a kamado with similar capacity is still more expensive...
Get an acorn or a chargriller? Ask yourself how often are you going to use the full capacity of the Napoleon?

Happy BBQ-ing, Paul

Thanks for the reply Paul. I've always baulked at the price of these things, but realise that they are a long term investment. I've got some good low & slow results out of the humble kettle (snake method) but I like the space available in the water smokers. We entertain a lot (15 coming for Christmas).
I haven't checked out the acorn or char grillers, will do so.

Cheers,

CS.

Looks to be an ok unit, something between perhaps a Fornetto and Pro-Q.

But as for bullet style smokers, nothing except maybe the 20 inch Pro-Q elite comes close to a WSM for build quality and function.

Yes they are expensive against the opposition but I'm prepared to pay that premium for the Weber Brand.

I bought Paulr's 18.5 inch WSM second hand over 10 yrs ago and have done many awesome meals on it, I've since sold it on as I presently don't have lots of time to cook at the moment but the 22.5 inch WSM is begging to be apart of my stable. Those things are rock solid with lots of cooking space.

Cheers
