CHARCOAL CANBERRA!!!

Post by jsherman86 »

Does anyone know where to get GOOD lump charcoal in Canberra, I have been getting bags from BBQ Galore, which kills a part of me each time. The stuff from BBQ Galore is terrible, all of it is half the size of a golf ball! absolute crap!

Cheers

This has been an ongoing issue in Canberra for a while now. I sent a few emails away to the markets at Fyshwick and Belconnen to see if they have store holders that sell lump, no joy. I also asked a bloke who does spit roast catering and he said that he gets his from Masters or Bunnings, but he rates Masters as better quality. You might want to try the Burning Log store at Fyshwick, I haven't gotten around to asking them yet.
Something else to consider could be a group buy from somewhere like Emberpak and split the freight costs?
All the best in your search and if you find anywhere good, please let us know.

Hi all,

We've recently tried to find a retailer to stock our charcoal in Canberra. So far, no luck.

And we can definitely do a group buy if a couple of people are interested.

I'm in Batemans Bay and would be interested in a group buy, I travel up to Canberra frequent enough to pick it up.

Emberpak has great charcoal.

http://emberpak.com/charcoal/

Try the different types. eg
Standard Lump - Great for easy lighting, fast cooks and can get hot fast
Large Trunk - Large chunks great for long cooks
Large Branch - Premium charcoal

but if you would like to try other types of charcoal such as Gidgee etc BBQAroma mentioned in one of his posts that he was planning to distribute in the ACT.

SmokeKIng BBQ ships Gidgee around Australia

Similarly if you are looking at pallets of charcoal you could try the Victorian suppliers such as http://www.aussiebbqsmoke.com/
