Used my Looftlighter for the first time last night. It's brilliant.
They had a shelf full of them at Bunnings Mentone, for $39.

Re: Fire Lighters
G'day Dam, I don't know why you got that Recall email, I rang Bunnings Head Office a few weeks ago, they said they were re-released after correcting a non compliance prob, the Looftlighters have not been modified, older stock has also been put back on the shelf, it appears they didn't get a compliance tick originally, It's hard to get a clear understanding here. We better all grab them while we can. Some Bunnings have them, some don't, some are on sale, others are $39 - $40.98.
Re: Fire Lighters
Got one for $29 at North Penrith Bunnings.
Re: Fire Lighters
I just came back from the Scoresby store with one. $29 thanks for the heads up Yakabot

I thought it was the old looft lighters that were recalled, Bunnings stopped selling them for ages and then they have just started selling the new "compliant" ones again, the store I got mine from had literally just got them back in again about a month ago, not sure these new ones are having issues too?Dam wrote:Thanks i am glad I found your ebay storeAussieBBQSmoke wrote:The Looftlighter just fits in the standard 5kg $17.40 Aust Post Satchel, they go to any Postcode.
by the way I ve received this email from Bunnings this morning :
"I have made contact with our distribution centre who have advised me the Looflighter's have been recalled due to a safety issue.
The supplier has made a decision to no longer supply the item in the near future. All Gold Coast stores have been advised they will not be receiving any outstanding orders."
perhaps I should get a spare one

Re: Fire Lighters
None of them had any issues on the technical side as far as I know. It was purely a sticker job - jumping through the right hoops and paying the right people to get a piece of paper that says it's all good. To the best of my knowledge, the design and construction has not changed.

As luck would have it, my Looftlighter died after a few years of regular use. Bunnings are not going to import them again, but now that the paperwork has been sorted they are selling the remaining stock without modification. Clearance price appears to be $29, but stock is very limited. I had the people in Chatswood check for me. In Sydney, only North Penrith has stock. I bought 4, which leaves about 18 in that store. Apparently Coffs Harbour store has about 20 left.
