Sous Vide for the home cook, book.

Post by titch »

Ordered this book by Douglas E Baldwin, on the First of Sept, from the Sous Vide Supreme Site, in The UK.
I tried Amazon and they would not ship to Australia.
I emailed Douglas direct and he directed me to this site.Prompt reply.

Site is here,

Comprehensive introduction Here.

Book arrived today, roughly $60 landed.

Bloody hell, what service from the UK. :D
At a glance the book is very specific and simple to use ,times and Temps and lots of recipes.

This is going to be fun.

Now awaiting 2 books ordered from Amazon, 3 weeks ago.
Cheers.

i assume you've got all your sous vide books by now and no doubt cooked some recipes from them... which book/s is best? what book would you recommend for someone wanting to get into sous vide..?

Most of my Sous Vide is for grilling.
I use Sous Vide grilling by Jason Logsdon the most.
I use Google just as much as well
What sort of Sous Vide do you want to do?

not looking to do anything in particular yet. just got myself a rice cooker and waiting for my controller to arrive, so need a basic, but good, sous vide cookbook or 2 to get started.....

for sous vide grilling, i assume you sous vide the meat and then grill it to finish it off?

Yes I do.
Can be flashed first, but I prefer to gril later. 1 minute a side is about it,no resting.

The Douglas Baldwin book is a very informative read and the grilling one I mentioned is good as well.
Where abouts are you in Australia?
Cheers.
