:)

Emus.... no room in that head for a brain.

Years ago a guy I worked with in Darwin was driving on the road to Halls Creek and a flock of them crossed the road, third one hit the side of his car and it's head went through the side window and passed between him and the steering wheel - swear he came back to town with grey hair that was not there when he left.

They can be tasty though, my dad was always going to roast one when he looked after the gardens at Lindsay Park Stud, they had a flock, but the boss only wanted to keep them for the eggs.

Red Ochre, which I don't know if it is still there, in Adelaide, did some interesting Emu dishes, go-to restaurant when Americans came to town.

Cheers

I'm keen to try and BBQ some emu, had a kangaroo and emu pie in Port Macquarie recently that was great. Nice rich sauce of native herbs in with the meat.

Smoked roo but haven't tried emu yet.

Emus freak me out too, They look at you like they want your eye ball for a snack
I used to eat it when I traveled for work and the best I had was cold emu patrami sliced paper thin.
Griffith, We got a place like that up here called Mullimbimby. YOU DO NOT go bush walking or crossing fences there

Yeah...nothin' like a bit of Mullum madness Mick

Emu, no I haven't tried it yet but reminds me of the time we were at a zoo (can't remember which one) and dad was walking around with a rolled ciggie in his hand which he used to have facing backward between his fingers down near his side when not smoking it...well this Emu took a liking to this thing my dad often put to his lips and snatched it and in one full gulp...down the hatch this lit ciggie went.....it raced for the nearest waterhole lol and I was laughing for hours about this stupid Emu
I was only a little kid at the time

Had to defend myself against an emu one day (in a park), it was a hell of a battle and one I'll never taken on again.

Had an Emu chase me out of the walk thru pen at Healsville Nature park when I was in shorts (come to think of it, I'm still in Shorts!)....never went near one again!

I remember the Mullimbimby, we used to call that Zombie!....for good reason! 8)
