BBQ Events

Post by Gav »

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick question about catering. Does anyone know of any caterers that specialise in Proper Southern Style BBQ catering for parties in the Hunter Valley/Newcastle Area? I'm talkin Smoked everything, Ribs, Chicken, Pork Butt, Corn, Beans, Slaw etc... Ideally I was thinking that surely someone would have a pit trailer that could rock up with 50 kgs of meat and go crazy for a few hours but I'm not having much luck finding anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

The problem is logistics.
I could do it but not just rock up fpr a few hours.
All those meats can take up to 12 or more hours to cook.
Serving and cleanup time- 4 hours.
Service call 4 hours
Prep hours- 4 hours
Thats 24 hours @ $50 = $1200 + GST
Then there is the 50KG on meat, average that out to $15 Kilo = $750 +GST
Total = $ 1950 plus the case of beer I will drink tops it off at two grand

Oh I forgot salad,,, ad another few hundred to prepair that

If that is in your buget? Then Im your man

Hi, I know this is an old thread but my 40th birthday is coming up and I also live in the Newcastle / Hunter area and I would like to get it catered with american style bbq. Is anyone aware of anyone who does such catering in the area now?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Go to the Wallsend Diggers club before a lunch time and ask for a fella by the name of Greg (can't remember his last name but it could be Peel or Peate....but don't quote me on that.

He bought 2 large Yoder pellet smokers to use at the club, being a chef, he may be able to help you with catering.

Theres a few good places in Sydney but it could work out pretty expensive per head as most of those guys charge by the 100g and it's usually around $9 plus per 100 grams at the restaurant.

Yeah....if someone has to bring a trailer smoker up to Newie for a party, it could work out to be at least 2 grand for the event which is about $40 plus bucks per head for 50 people.

There used to be a crowd called Spitroast Professionals but I haven't seen them around for yonks....maybe a failed franchise idea.

I lived in Newcastle up till just over a Month ago but had to relocate to Sydney due to my job, I don't know of anyone really except the guy at Wallsend Diggers or maybe Adams ribs in Adamstown on Glebe road. Many place sell ribs on the menu but most of them are boiled, oversauced mush on a bone.

Sorry but that's all I can think of right now.

Cheers

Hogsey....may you and Golly can bring those 3 Weber Ranches up from Central Coast...they'll easily cater for that amount of people..probably even 1 of them would plus a couple of kettles.
