Air Fryer

Post by 12x7 »

Fried food is great to have with bbq.

At times it can be more trouble than it’s worth.

Picture this.

You’ve come home from work and what would hit the spot is steak and chips with a beer. The problem you have is by the time you heat the oven, cook the chips, you’re at your fifth beer and still waiting to start cooking the steak.

Discovered the other day you can cook frozen chips straight from the freezer in an air fryer in 20 minutes. Perfecting timing to cook a steak on the Weber Q, pop it on a plate, scoop out the chips from the air fryer onto the plate. A complete meal with meat and veggies as potatoes and beer aren’t meat.

For variety in the air fryer I can make a number of meals to go with steak.

Steak and fried chicken wings.
Steak and fried drumsticks.
Steak and fried spring rolls.
Steak and fish.

You can even cook steak in an air fryer so I can have steak with steak.

They’re even small enough to take travelling with you. Eg in the caravan.

Plus it is good for your health using these cookers as you use less then a tablespoon of oil to cook with them. Look around the web there sre some great recipes and ideas on how to cook with them ie bake cakes.

We just replaced our deep fryer with one and we should of done it years ago. Vegetables for the Sunday roast go really good in them too.

hi
have seen them air fryers but thought they was a little expensive.
Just a month or so ago a friend grabbed me one of these chip trays from Aldi, I use 1/2 - 1 tbsp. of oil and get just the same result.
Think it was well under 15 bucks and works a treat.
Must try it with some other vegies too.
Thanks. G.G.

Hi 12 x 7
I have just had the chance to use it in the oven to date. As said it worked a treat.
Imagine it should also work in the Q & 4 burner, will post when I get the chance to give it a go on these.
Thanks. G.G.

Thanks for the how to and photo GG.

It’s similar to how I was doing the frozen chips bought already oiled in the oven.

I found buying the chips already oiled is an easy way to make them crispy.

G'day
Another fan of the airfryer.
Frozen chips are pre cooked and oiled. I think the airfryer cooks them better than any oven. The results are just the same as from a deep fat fryer.
But, fresh cut chips oiled and cooked in the airfryer are diferent. I really prefer them to frozen chips. They have a real earthy potato taste rather than being the taste of the oil.
Either way you like them means no mucking around with vats of oil and filtering etc etc.
Regards dave
