Coles has started to put security in their meat packaging.

In the photo you can see that this meat is on special too!

Has meat really gotten that expensive?

I wonder if its a Marketing Ploy, Drovers choice meat does not float my boat

Yeah surprised to see them on this range of cuts.
They have been in use for a while, I think Coles in Richmond was one of the first to use them due to the high theft of meat.
They are in use in both the majors as far as I know but more for eye fillet and the likes.
When I worked in supermarkets a few moons ago you be surprised where people shove stuff...Phew..
