Do you have the model?

If it is this model.

You only need to pair it once normally.

Being electronic if it does forget which may occur when change batteries you may have to pair again.

Yup, pairing should only be once...
Umm are you using the batteries that were provided? Use new ones sometimes the provided ones are not so good... Low batteries could be the cause...

Yep, I use the digital temp gauge as shown in the link above.

Great piece of gear too :)

as said only needs to be paired one time and it works a treat
Use the twin probes inserted at the two thickest areas of the meat for best results

Thanks for the replies, the model is 6741 double probe,
Once I turn reciever on first, should I wait awhile to turn transmitter on?,i will change the batteries and see how it goes but at this stage I haven't got the backs on the units screwed on yet iv had to reset the receiver nearly ever time I turn it on,so Iv left them off till it starts working all the time,
Think I'm doing something simple wrong, the instruction arnt any help at all,I did find better instruction on the weber site which was helpful
I'm using it tonight on a rolled pork loin so will be abit of a test,iv done a search and iv seen that a few people arnt very happy with the medium setting they say there roast were under done, mite run the pork on the well done mode,75c I think it is
Thanks again

Try this.

1) Insert all the leads. I think they act as aerials.
2) Turn on hand-held display first.
3) Turn on transmitter base.
4) When the temperature appears it is synced.

If that doesn't work try this.

1. Turn on the display unit
2. Turn on the "base unit"
3. Then press and hold the "1" and "2" buttons on the display unit until it beeps
4. Push the button on the "base unit" (might have to do this a couple of times)
5. It should pair at that point.

You might have to try it a few times to get it to sync.

Glad to hear it works now.

You will notice it has temp ranges. Treat these as suggestions. After awhile you will work out what rare, medium, well done is to your taste and what meat temp that is for different types of meat. Everyone seems to have an opinion.

Amazingribs knows what they are talking about.
