char griller charcoal

Post by Davo »

Has anyone used the Char Griller charcoal from Bunnings yet?

Comes in a 10 kilo box and is 100% eucalyptus charcoal .

Anybody can give review on this charcoal?

Cheers

If you're wondering, eg: haven't opened a box, it looks like this. (Box was already open. Wasn't me. Really.)

Its worth a try Davo, Being gum and from Asia Id bet its a fast growing and low density (for eucalyptus) Something like flooded gum or even lighter in mass. You have me interested to give it a try. As with any char, If it smells junky while burning try to clean up the burn with more open top vent and choke the bottom. If its still junky, Consider using it for full boar open grilling where it burns without restriction.
If trees screamed when we cut them down, We wouldn't. If they screamed all the time we would.

I don't usually go over to that OTHER place but I checked the link and read the reviews, seems like not many are impressed with the smell/taste of being cooked over that charcoal.
They also said it leaves a lot of ash.
One said he'll go back to robot turds

So while I almost went and bought a box....I thought that I'd ask here first...glad I did.

Master had a huge bag of charcoal that I was impressed with but they didn't have any last time I went there....not much variety up in Newey.

Oh well...just as well I love me heat beads!

Cheers
