Cheers. Picked one up Sunday morning. Couldn't find a pallet full and there was only a few of them on the shelf.trentski wrote:Hi all,
Was in a Hoppers Crossing hardware store today, the green one with the red hammer. They had a pallet of loof lighters going at $15 each.
Last time i asked about them at a an Altona store owned by the same crowd I was told they couldn't sell them anymore, so either the issues are fixed or people in Melbourne's West are expendable.
Looftlighter back in bunnings
Re: Looflighter on clearance in Hoppers Crossing
Re: Looftlighter back in bunnings
mate picked up a couple in Mentone store today for $15, reckoned they had a fair few in stock
Re: Looftlighter back in bunnings
My looftlighter of many years carked it tonight. Anyone seen them lurking around the eastern suburbs of Melbourne?
Re: Looftlighter back in bunnings
My Looftlighter packed it in after a few years. I bought a couple of replacements, but curiosity got the better of me and I took the faulty one apart.
The symptoms were that the heating element would get hot, but the fan won't spin.
It turns out that my dead Looftlighter is repairable. The circuitry inside is pretty simple, just a simple 4 diode rectifier bridge that is faulty. Probably less than $5 in parts and about 1 hour to take it apart and replace the parts.
The fan motor is fine, I tested it with a 12V plug pack connected directly to the motor terminals and it spins.

Just used it for the 1st time, works great,
How far away do you guys hold it from the charcoal/beads?
I was heating one and then got it glowing and started to do circular motions and got the surrounding ones going.

Are the more expensive ones a higher model or is just Bunnings being Bunnings?
