ALDI Gas Smoker?

Post by Tasmaniac65 »

Hi all, the latest Aldi (Sydney) catalogue is out and there is a
$199 Home Gas Smoker (link will be live tomorrow only in paper cat. now)

now it looks pretty good but I haven't personally used one so I am certainly no expert can somebody give me an opinion before I have to make a decision as the wife pointed it out and I sort of said "yeh that looks the goods might get one of them"
knowing full well I had no idea what I was talking about but the guys on the forum do :D
cheers

If this is the upright smoker, i have one and love it. I got mine at half price when the first had them and no one bought them, the appear to be the same as the old hark one. You need to get a good temp gauge, a maverick or the like to go with it, the one on it is a little out.

ALDI Gas Smoker?

I do beef and lamb ribs, slow. Chicken usually in halves. Lamb and beef roasts. Haven't done a slow pork yet. I have even done some thick slicked steaks and t bones. Also great for a tray of roast style veg. Have also done fish, small ones one the rack. Also hung two large salmon and smoked them. Being gas you can't get a really low temp but you can get it steady at about 100-110

I've done 70-80 ish with the snake method in there but normally around the 100 mark which is fine for a 8 hour pulled pork

Tas, We've had our one for a bit now and love it. Very versatile bit of gear and easy to live with. Here's a link to the thread Titch mentioned .....

They are great. You can buy optional extra brackets and shelves from Urbangriller. I've expanded mine to seven shelves, which will allow me to smoke about 8kg of chicken breasts in one batch.

Get there early. At my local Aldi there's a queue from at least 1/2 to 3/4 hour before opening and trolleys are only used as battering rams not for putting purchases in.

You're best off tag-teaming with your partner. One does the mad dash to the back of the store, while the other brings the trolley to load it up.

Got mine this morning there didn't seem to be a great demand for them in "The Shire" but it is a Chrissy present so the kids have put it away for the special day.
My daughter clearly said "Dad surely you do not need another BBQ?"

Not till Xmas, that sucks. Sure for warranty it has to be used within seven days of purchase, well that would be my excuse lol
