I just got back from a few nights in KL - here's a few BBQ / Food pics:

Was great, but I was eating 5 meals a day to try everything I could. Still didn't eat everything I wanted - maybe next time...?

Wow I am really hungry now......when in Malaysia, you end up eating 6 meals a day! Lots of good food to try and all very cheap as well.

Titch - no, we didn't get to go up the Petronas towers. They had already issued all the tickets one day and then they were closed for Tuesdays Muslim Holiday. We did go up the Kuala Lumpur Tower though - similar to Sydney's centrepoint tower - but KL Tower is another 100m higher.

I'm still not hungry after that trip. Great place for BBQ / Charcoal cooked food!! Typical asian smells - wofts of charcoal, pollution, grilling food, spices, not so pleasant smells, charcoal, on constant rotation as you walk the streets.

Not sure if anyone on here has been to (of heard of) "Lot 10" - its probably one of the best foodcourts in the world. A Malaysian millionaire/billionaire went to each region in Malaysia and found the best street food hawker style family cafe/restaurant - and paid them all to move into his food court in KL. So, its a best of the best of each regions food of Malaysia all under on roof.... Amazing stuff!

Francis Yeoh of YTL Corporation, Lot 10 Hutong, yes, he has attracted/invited some of KL's classic streetfood businesses there.
Some more cynical might say it was just a great business move as well as geting a place to lunch with his staff ...but I think he sincerely wants to preserve the food culture.
Okay, I may be a romantic but I'd LIKE to think so.

My cousin bought a very expensive watch in lot 10, prearranged before he left Holland and we dined there.
I will admit to preferring the stalls in the market strip.

Authentic ethnic food, some classics especially can be a bit bland for western tastes.

No idea on the watch as I don't do them, I remember going WTF.
Dutch family is doing ok. and are annuals every 6 months in Borneo via KL.
Market strip had everything between frogs and spiders.
I ate with my eyes shut

That my friend is why our family is attracted to South East Asian holidays.

Its all about the food,,,,,, and watching it being prepared on the street.

We go back to KL at least every 3-4 months, ostensibly to check on our suppliers , but I really go back just to eat! Always leave Malaysia a few kilos heavier than when I arrive.
