Glass Door Gas Smoker

Is a glass door on a smoker a gimmick? I was thinking that the smoke would stain the glass fairly quickly and then you wouldn't be able to see in. May be better to buy a sheeted door gas smoker? Would the sheeted door smokers keep more heat in vs the glass door?
Thanks
hjl

I asked a similiar question on an American forum
The group thought was you need to clean the glass after each use fo it to be usefull
Gllass is a not too bad insulation but compared to what?

Yeah you'd have to keep cleaning it regularly, preferably after each session.
The brown grime will be a combination of smoke and grease splatter. Maybe a regular shot of oven cleaner then wipe or hose off.

Bit late but agreed I have a glass panel on one of my grillers and it need FREQUENT cleaning and unless you use a torch u cant see anything clearly inside. I do use it on my griller to checkj (with heavy marinated oil loads) for flareups...
