Pro q frontier 1st cook

Post by LeighRFC »

Hi all. I just got myself a Pro Q Frontier as a beginners starter pack. I was wondering if it needs to be cooked in prior to my first actual cook? Some ppl have suggested to give it a a run first to burn off any toxins but I wasn’t sure if it is necessary. Also as it’s my first time cooking on the Pro Q, I’m wondering if anyone had a suggestion of what to cook first just to get the ball rolling...? Looking forward to a lifetime of smoked meaty goodness! Any advise is welcome

You could burn it in for a while but when I got mine I was so keen to get stuck in I smoked food to burn it in.

I started with a heap of chicken drumsticks for my first cook, they're cheap so if it goes wrong it's not too bad. Dry rubbed and smoked with a banksia nut.

My first time I used the water bowl and it took a good 4 hours to smoke the drumsticks. Avoid the temptatation to take the lid of every half hour to see how they're going. Doesn't help.

Have fun, you're going to learn a lot and get a heap of enjoyment out of it.
