Hi,
My review of the Masterbuilt ThermoTemp gas smoker. Imported from the USA June 17.
I have to say that this smoker now grabs the "Top Spot" on my list for a host of reasons.
This would have to be the most advanced gasser I have seen with its own sensor for temperature control & insulation of the interior of the unit along with the solid construction....And Wheels as added highlights this is a winner without doubt!!
So have seasoned it up well..I do them twice usually then did a shoulder of lamb for a basic trial.
The temperature control is excellent with its own sensor against an el cheapo and the thermoworx smoke within 5c or so difference tops.
Over a 9hr smoke of my recent hams (see smallgoods section) the temperature hardly blinked from the 100c/225f mark.
Pros:
Temp Control sensor.
Insulation.
Wheels.
Superior Construction.
Dual Door. for easy access to chip/water pan.
Ease of clean-up.
Space.
Window Viewing.
Cons:
Assembly instructions. My hardest build yet.
Racks need to be stronger.
More rack slots/slides maybe.
This smoker has almost NO smoke leakage like most currently on the market and also needed virtually no water/juice added to the water pan for a 9hr smoke. I did add a small amount, but could have skipped it. Another point of notice for me was the fact that the Bark/Jerky on the outer of these hams was a Lot less than my usual hams done in my trusty Hark/Cooli .
I also found the chip bowl no problem to use contrary to some USA reviews. For me its a winner.
All round a great gas smoker that will hopefully makes its way here.
Cheers,
Russell.
