Had a great weekend at Bangalow, the BBQ community at these comps are awsome. I was 1 man team planning to enter only 2 categories, pork ribs and beef, the teams around me insisted i enter all 4 categories and donated chicken thighs and a 2kg pork scotch fillet, i was blown away by how generous and supportive they were. I ended up getting 10th in chicken and beat some high qaulity teams, beginners luck!
I arrived home 10am this morning and after unpacking my gear headed to the workshop to start my next project.
I'm thinking of calling it the Squealer. The cook chamber is 800x475 dia.
My Build
Re: My Build
Lots of views but not much feedback, no point in providing updates if no one responds
Re: My Build
Mate. Love your work. I'm looking forward to watching this come together.
Nothing to see here.
Re: My Build
Congrats on the positive Bangalow outcome, Nice of those people to help you out.
Looks like with this next smoker you have really sorted out the build process ?
Re the lack of response, This forum fractured mate. It went three ways. Beavers Forum http://www.aussiepitmasters.com.au/index.php are right into offset smokers and competing. Check them out.
Or you could try Urban Grillers Forum http://smokefireandfood.com/forum/index.php?board-list/ Its a great forum!
Or lastly, Check out my forum that er's more on the actual food side of BBQ and home cooking and is vendor less. http://aussiecue.dudeworld.com.au/STC/

If trees screamed when we cut them down, We wouldn't. If they screamed all the time we would.

Re: My Build
I have been pretty busy the last few weeks building this smoker and preparing for a fundraiser i volunteered to cook at this coming Saturday. Cooking good chicken is not so easy on a low&slow.
I didn't like the idea of having a handle for each door so i went with a 1 tool suits all approach, this universal handle will also act as a fire prod, I will post a pic of it once i finish its grip.
Some of you may have noticed the new plasma cutter in the back ground, this machine is going to cut down my fab time drastically and also will allow a little flare on future builds.
As mentioned in a previous post this is the Squealer model, ideal for home use.
I'm taking orders if anyone is interested, personal mods are welcome.
I have website called HogPitSmokers.com, it is a work in progress, very slow work at the moment but please be patient as soon it will be up with prices and pics of what im offering.
