I have been seeing these for sale on evilbay for around $150. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm sure they are pretty crappy but could they be modded to make them work?

Click on the seller's feedback score,
then click on the negatives in the last month.

Re: Is this Junk?
I got one to try out that concept of cookin... bloody good little jigger ...!!!
Just dont get carried away with it.
First thing I did wrong was get the fire box too hot and burnt the paint up top,stink...
Now with a bit of use knowledge it does a great job, lamb cuts do well, stuff with marinades cook with out burnin the marinade to a crisp
For me and SWMBO it is spot on,4 1/4 chops for eg,a tray of 1/2 a doz in the smoker then finish em off in the fire box, chuck the grate on a quick char all lids and stack closed, the smoke off the fat with no flare up,got to love it, for the two bob it cost and the lessons learnt...
Now I wanna get a hark tri fire job with a rotisserie...
vik...Cant help it...

Well I guess for the $150, it was a bargain considering you've got some great food off it......the Tri-fire has also kept a lot of guys happy and for around $750, it still won't break the bank. I've never used an offset, my problem here is keeping the wood up to it. I have a Yank mate down in Sydney who has one of the original BBQ Galore offset (Landmark I think?) and he still has it and has done some marvellous briskets but he struggles to get the wood supply for it.

Bloody hell Davo WTF is he cookin...??? "marvellous briskets but he struggles to get the wood supply for it." What ya sayin, runs outa heat is he doing the low and slow way, dont sound like it.
I cook stuff on my El chepo for soft meat, more roasts etc,if I want crisp skin etc out comes the http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/ ... rst001.jpg
Dont know how the tri fire job goes, ya wouldnt of thought heat would be a problem,if I do a lamb rack is salt and cross cut the fat and place that near the fire box and usually get a good crisp, thats the hot part.Havent needed a shield ,the thing is too small to worry about that, longest cook for me is around about 2 hoursish for a 2and a bit kilo chook.
bet they are all differnt... bloody weather makes a big diff with the coke can skin...!!!
But I'm under cover outa the wind...all good

Nah Vic, he's pretty versed about doing low n slow being from Oklahoma ( would you believe he was influenced by me to get into it ) he just mentioned to me about his need to get a better wood supply but he didn't actually say why.
As i'm not currently living in Sydney and not using an offset...i couldn't help him.
