Bradley element options

Post by elfmel05 »

Hi all,
Have a Bradley 6 rack smoker. The element died over 12 months ago and the importer have not been able to supply one. Any ideas of an alternate that will fit or an upgraded element? Has to be 240v, plenty of 120 v avaialable.

Hi Elfmel,

How old is it? Are they still available in Australia new or no longer?

Sadly that is one of the big problems with some imports, oh they want to sell you a cooker but they don't want to stack the parts or that model is no longer available or supported, usually from a factory in China.

If your Bradley Smoker is a few years old, they may no longer be sold in Australia, who was the retailer? I seen there were 2 options, either the 120V or the 220 V from Europe but i think it might have a different plug adaptor so maybe if you can get a 220V it's pretty close to Australian currency.

I'm no electrician and maybe if you took the element to an electrical oven supplier or a white goods retailer, he might find one but failing that, you could try and convert it somehow to a Gas smoker......I take it that's what it was before only electric, so maybe just take the element out and convert it to an LPG smoker or if it's got adequate ventilation, maybe buy a charcoal basket from a BBQ store and use charcoal.

I don't think those Bradley electric smokers were that expensive and I'm not sure where you can get them but sometimes it's just as well say.....to hell with it and replace it.

I'm sorry if this is not much help to you and I can understand if you need an electric smoker if you're on an apartment balcony or something, Bunnings might have something similar, quite often some of those electric cabinet type smokers use the same elements even if they're under a different name as most of them come from China. You could probably buy a cheaper one 2nd hand.
