Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my first offset and I'm kind of stuck. What would you guys recommend between these two?
1. https://www.oklahomajoes.com/highland-r ... set-smoker
2. http://hark.com.au/hark-units/smoke/har ... moker.html

Re: Buying my first offset
Where abouts are you?
Is the Joe available?
I have never cooked with either so cant help there.
I do know the Hark Brand, its OK. good service back up here in Victoria.

Yeah both the Joe and Hark are available to buy

Hi Ryan
Did you ever work out what to buy?
With gas bbqs you can get some rally good deals on second hand gear. Last year I got a Weber Summit for 10 per cent of new price. Now the summit is the top of the range of the Weber gas grills. Are there deals like this with offset smokers? Which offset smoker should I be looking at for deals?
Thanks

Re: Buying my first offset
I like the look and feel of the Oklahoma Joe but reading the feedback, the users like them but the Paint peels off too easily and it's a constant job having to apply oil on it to stop it from rusting so perhaps they need to address their paint issues.
Hark have been around for a long time now and seem to be a proven offset for beginners and experienced alike. I think they are a good thing, well priced for what you get.
I think I'd go with the Hark as I couldn't be bothered having to stuff around oiling the damn Oki Joe all the time...but that's be the only reason for me as I like the idea of reverse flow.
I like the WSM better.....but that's just me
