Re: Mountain Mick's Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

The first few times i went I really enjoyed the food but my last couple of visits have been a let down a bit. Still love their cheese and bacon fries with the ranch dipping sauce though. Actually an American chain that was looking for a theme that then grew and came to Oz. I often stop at the one in...

Re: Mountain Mick's Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce

Sounds similar to the Outback steakhouse copycat recipe which is really nice and versatile. They use their sauce in a chicken dish which you could use your dipping sauce for. Fry some trimmed bacon in a pan and remove then fry some chicken breast hammered flat and seasoned with season all in the sam...

Flavoured butters

I have made several and love a few but i am yet to try a blue cheese based butter that seems popular online in various recipes.

Has anyone here tried one or have a recipe that nailed it?

Wagu porterhouse

Sorry no photos but just had to post. Got a couple of discounted wagu steaks (amongst other things) at the markets at closing time yesterday and had them for dinner tonight with my 10 yr old daughter. $56 a kilo normally but 50% off to clear. Still a bit flash but a bit of a treat. Not 1 square cm i...

Re: Questions for the Vision Kamado clan

Funny but after my post above I went for a look at the new Masters store (I am in Canberra) and found a two sided (waffle and flat) cast iron plate that covers roughly half the lower rack. I reckon it will work as a decent deflector for some things also. HAs fold in handles also. It was cheap i thou...

Re: Questions for the Vision Kamado clan

I mean like a ss pizza tray. I foolishly got one once that doesn't fit the dishwasher. Guess which one the wife kept using but leaving in the sink to annoy me? So it went into the kamado as my deflector. Works quite well and was only worth a few dollars from somewhere like kmart. Been trying to find...

Just for those interested the Canberra store had the vision Kamado for $619 this afternoon.

I just use an old tray on my the bottom of 2 shelves for heat deflection. Must get another and fold in half.

Re: Potato boats/skins

I have heard the TGI ones are more like hollow shells. The things I made were more like pies with fillings piled higher than the casings.

Have seen some done with salami and some with slices of roasted capsicum as toppings that i would like to try.

Potato boats/skins

You know when you have done something for years a certain way and you want try something different - well that what started this off. I was messing around with some different ways of roasting spuds just for the heck off it with the kids and when looking online for ideas we found this one somewhere. ...

Re: Peri Peri Chicken

Still loving this recipe about once a week. I use the flesh of the 2 lemons as well as the juice (seeds removed). I find that with the little extra lemon you can almost achieve a finished product that is almost like steamed fish in its tenderness. I have been cooking 2 kg batches of what my chicken ...

Re: Peri Peri Chicken

OK so i have made up the marinade and have some Marylands ready to go for lunch and some spare marinade in a bottle in the fridge. I used 5 tablespoons of salt and the flesh of the lemons as well with pith and seeds removed. Stick blended. In the meantime i cooked a couple of thigh fillets from the ...

Went to Costco Canberra today. Seems they have restocked and upped the price.

Around 8 units there but price now $648.00.
