My only experience with the rotisserie was to try and cook two very fat chickens that the poor motor couldn't physically turn over. Lol.
Did you have it "balanced" with counterweight(s)?

Re: Newbie ? re Rotisserie Cooking

....250C sounds a bit high with the lid down..... We were following the instructions at that BBQs galore link I posted above. I think it's correct, right... The crackling WAS looking awesome. I have no doubt at that temp the bamboo skewers stood no chance, and would have been red embers in ...

Re: Newbie ? re Rotisserie Cooking

We'll, FWIW, and in the interest of knowledge sharing, the cause, culprits, were found by forensic analysis. Yep, on cutting it open I discovered my darling wife had put three bamboo skewers into the meat to hold a few loose pieces down. She was oblivious to the fact that even well soaked bamboo ske...

Re: New House New BBQ?

... You mentioned you discounted the Weber early, apart from price point, what other features was it lacking for your use? ... On board storage in the cart / trolley, plus the mobility impact with 'loose storage' items etc. These factors narrowed the filed quickly as we'd had the 'two door' under c...

A 6 burner Weber would be delivered & assembled on your premises by a Weber Technician and would ensure everything is working, help you to put the BBQ in place .....you also get a 10 year warranty and the best service you'll ever experience....if something goes wrong, a Service guy will come ou...

Re: New House New BBQ?

Hey Brownie, Couple of things to consider in no particular order: Storage: what do you have to store that is 'BBQ" related. Besides the gas bottle, where will the cleaner stuff get stored, and the BBQ utensils, and extra plates, rotisserie etc. Will you have charcoal stuff, smoking stuff, etc. ...

Re: Newbie ? re Rotisserie Cooking

Cooking update: it start so well. We followed the instructions and had a tray under the meat, BBQ hot, and up to 250*C with the rear 'infra red' burner on.... 5 mins in, we checked it, it looked amazing with some golden blisters starting ... mouths were watering. :D 2mins later, as I went to grab a ...

Hope it tastes good and your friends appreciate the effort.

If it was me, with my cooking ritual of a beer while cooking, I'd be a real mess with this low n slow style.

Re: Newbie ? re Rotisserie Cooking

Only one way to learn, right? Ask, and then dive right in!

Went to our butcher today and grabbed an awesome piece of rolled pork. They cut it and tied it up for me and even scored the skin.

Hmmm. Crackling.

Onto the rotisserie tomorrow!

I did buy some snags too, just in case ;)

Re: Stainless Steel BBQ - our research and info

Cheers David, yeah, I just replied to your other post confirming we had already purchased a BBQ. I'd strongly recommend anyone researching BBQs gets the latest product list from the AGA website, then do a search on it (they are PDF document format) for the brand's, models and model numbers of the BB...

Re: G'day from the Tweed Coast, Northern NSW

Hey Davo, mate, we already bought one.

Have posted in the gas thread about our purchase decision.

I did go into Coastline to check out Weber BBQs, with less storage, smaller physical cooking area and with same inclusions, the Weber were not in the running for us.

Newbie ? re Rotisserie Cooking

G'day crew, as posted in a separate thread, we've just purchased a new 6 burner BBQ. It came standard with a rotisserie. Having never use one our old BBQ, mates and family have them over charcoal cookers, we're keen to try it on our new BBQ. But. How should we set up the hotplate and grills? Better ...
