Re: What Did You Cook Part 11 - January 1 2015

Some awesome food around here. I have been lurking a few weeks, and got myself an Akorn from Bunnings. Played around with it a lot so far, and had a good weekend with Kamado action. Saturday morning I put some Cape Grim beef ribs on, around 9 hours using a heat bead snake. Had some issues getting i...

Re: What Did You Cook Part 11 - January 1 2015

I cant really say one way or the other but my mate has a KJ Classic and it just seems the ceramics are easier to control temp wise. If you overshoot in a ceramic its easier to bring it back down than a Akorn or BSK> With a steel kamado you really have to LEARN your BBQ aka not overshoot for low and ...

Great tucker Are you happy with the akorn Absolutley love it. Would i love a ceramic kamado more? probably but i cant justify an extra $700 more. I'll get a ceramic one day when i break the Akorn but the Akorn has got me so addicted to kamado cooking for such a cheap price. Heres some burgers i did...

Re: Bic Briquettes

4KG of heatbeads is around $9.50 at safeway.

Also saw safeway branded briqqutes at $4.50 for 4KG. I couldnt tear a bag open to have a look at the size of them but they felt the same size as heat beads.
