Re: Teaching the basics

Maaaaaate  .....wish someone would buy me an inkbird wireless thermometer. I sold my WSM a few years back, it's the one I bought from Paulr in the early years of this forum, I owned it for 10 yrs or more and it was still in good condition but because I wasn't doing big cook ups for sometime, I ...

Re: Is this the most expensive heat beads in Australia?

I found this on ebay and at $151.95 for 7.5kg this could be the most expensive bag of heat beads in Australia. heat beads-1.jpg And here I'm thinking that $12 PER BAG was ridiculous  Yeah like everything else, charcoal and BBQ food is going Northward at an incredible rate of knots. I feel li...

Teaching the basics

Went to a friend's place for Xmas lunch yesterday, he is a lot younger than I but a nice fella I used to work with in Sydney with my previous job. I only recently realised he moved to the town that I bought my retirement house. Anyway part of the Xmas lunch was Chicken thighs that had been marinatin...

Re: Christmas Turkey

Turkey is a very nutritious meat even though it can be somewhat bland, but I personally have had little to do with because it's never been a food we had anything to do with, even chicken in the 60's and 70's wasn't a common protein till KFC came to Australia. I had a turkey leg from a stall in Disne...

Merry Xmas too Titch and Vonnie (is this her name?) sorry if I got it wrong. Hope you're cooking up a Storm. No cooking for me atm as I just moved into my house last Monday here in Albury and the place still looks like there's been a typhoon hit the bloody place inside. Cheers mate. Lets hope we can...

Re: Just a few cook ups in between rain downpours 2022

Yeah it's a bit rusty, hadn't used it in yonks, like the half moon hotplate I also have from my first kettle back in the mid 90's. It's only surface rust so i'll have to buy one of those brushes for the grinder or my power drill to rejuvenate it. I'm also going to rejuvenate my 2007 Weber Performer ...

Re: Do You have your eye on a new BBQ for 2023?

Yeah those knobs can smear badly if u don't keep on them. I often had to take off the Weber Q knobs and soak them in a good dishwashing liquid to basically degrease them. I'm now seriously looking for ideas for my next gasser. Hoping I can buy something decent in Nat gas as my new place has Nat gas ...

Re: Connecting to house gas

Not ever owning a caravan and apart from a regulator, I'm not aware of a separate flame safe device but the fact that many caravan fridges work off 3 power sources (Gas, electricity and/ or battery) and that it's a place where people sleep/reside, it's possible that it could be required and I guess ...

Re: Large Gas bottles

Yeah Paul, it should scrub up well as they are a decent Stainless steel unit, very strong too and I would've kept mine only I wasn't keen on those flame tamers. Yes I think it's best to get good advice and also while I think of it, best to get a new hose for it too as it could have perished during s...

Hehehe Onya Cobbler, yeah I love the Q's, I stupidly sold my Q3200 family Q as I thought i was going to move into an apartment but that never happened and while I pine for it sometimes, I have no under cover BBQ area to cook under and the weather in the past 3 Years in Sydney has been ridiculously w...

Re: Large Gas bottles

Hi Paul, Thats a good question and I can't recall anyone connecting their LPG BBQ up to such a Cylinder and I think maybe because it's such a thing that if done wrongly, can be devastating. Household LPG cylinders are quite big and may run on much a higher pressure than a 8.5kg for a BBQ because the...

Do You have your eye on a new BBQ for 2023?

Ok it's getting close to Christmas and the New Year, so are you looking for a new BBQ? Gas, Charcoal, Pellet or any other kind? If it's different to what you have already, what is leading you to change? Be interesting to see what you are wanting. I'd like another Gas BBQ to compliment my 3 kettle gr...
