Kamado Hinge - Buyer Beware

Something to think about when you buy a ceramic kamado, the lid hinge. The lid is very heavy. To help keep the lid in place when open and to open requires strong springs. Some use a fancy counterweight system to make the lid easy to lift. The problems with springs is they wear out. In past you could ...

Re: Just a few recent pandemic grilling sessions

Those were the days before all the amalgamations and foreign ownership of the breweries. Each state had their iconic beers. You could tell where you were from by what beer you drank and what football code you followed. I got strangest looks asking for a middy at the pub in Melbourne when I was worki...

Re: Just a few recent pandemic grilling sessions

sit down and enjoy a nice cold schooner glass of my favourite beer.....a Resches :P It's been a long time when I heard someone ask for a Resches. I guess you remember the days when Tooth's had a brewery down at Broadway. BBQ was simpler back then. A gas BBQ was a few burners under a cast iron plate...

Re: Sydney Brisket Butchers/Delivery

Even though meat is expensive the Gourmet Butchers are so busy they're having trouble keeping up with the deliveries.

Re: Just a few recent pandemic grilling sessions

What a feast!

I have one of those cast iron smoker box too!

It's good to see the Weber Kettle still going strong.

They're a real good piece of BBQ kit that lasts for ages.

People are pretty wound up with stuck home with the lockdown. Good to see you getting through with some excellent BBQ.

Re: Its Quiet on this Board

It's good to see the wife enjoying BBQ. I got the Akorn Kamado out the other day. Dusted her off from her winter hibernation. It has been living outside and got a bit rusty. I have a shed for it now so it's not getting weather beaten anymore. It ended up with a HUGE dent in the front. Lucky it's mad...

Re: Its Quiet on this Board

I get the feeling there's still lots of BBQ'ers out there. They just enjoy cooking and can't be bothered with forums, Facebook etc. People love to live stream eg. Tiktok and Facetime nowadays. Each generation has it's fads. This forum was there during the ups and down of the BBQ era when for most, i...

Good to see a few people around on the forum.

It's pretty dead on quite a few of the once popular forums.

Re: Its Quiet on this Board

It’s an interesting time. With COVID there’s supposed to be a spurt of BBQ sales with people forced to eat at home. BBQing for enjoyment is the right idea. No need to force yourself to BBQ, it’s there to enjoy. Looking on the bright side and the price of meat, you’re less likely to screw up your coo...

Re: Its Quiet on this Board

With the general move away from forums to other things it’s probably a bit ironic that this post is as a guess one of the most popular topic on this forum nowadays.

Any Bear Grills or Smoke King BBQ Kamados owners out there?

Back when Kamados were considered exotic BBQs and had prices to match, along come some Aussie entrepreneurs in Brisbane and started up their businesses Bear Grills and Smoke KIng BBQs. They imported Auplex Kamados at ground breaking prices. They boasted things like 20 year warranty and excellent ser...
