Re: Which size GMG Bowie or Boone ?

I guess it is about finances...have not heard many say they regretted going larger, have herd that from those that bought smaller. For a unit that is 50% larger, the pellet consumption is not that much greater, yes, it will use about 1.5kg/hour on high, but how long does it take to cook a pizza or a...

Re: Local downdraft available?

Guy on Pelletheads.com selling the 1st Generation one (no sliding door) for $60, he might sell it to you and ship to OZ if you paid him for the shipping? I really have no idea if he would be willing or not, seems to me if ya got pack it up and ship it to Maine, or Arizona or Alabama, how much harder...

Re: Rec Tec grills

They are the same size, DC has WiFi, Micro Char grill, managed air system and is about $300 less...but if you like the 300 better, you will probably enjoy it, as they are about the same size. I do not believe the 300 will work on DC power like the Davy Crockett if power is ever an issue...

Re: Hotter or longer to render beef fat?

I like hotter to render...Specially with, if I know my Japanese marbling system, that is a higher end of the spectrum I think...definitely hotter and faster!

Re: Rec Tec grills

They are almost identical in size to the Traeger 075. They get a tad hotter, and have a massive 19Kg hopper on the back. Digital controller, but they are not a managed air system, but even with a constant combustion fan, pretty good temperature control and pellet consumption. If you like the RecTec ...

Them Traeger 075's will hold a boat load of food, you proved that...and by the amount left over, it appears you know how to handle it!

A Gift from Down Under...

My Buddie UrbanGriller sent me a cool new spatula! Actually, I believe it was "Management" as he calls Mrs. UrbanGriller that thought of it! Love the Australian flag in it! Will be interesting to see if I can get it to transfer that to a Burger! It is really a cool designed spatula, it is heavy duty...

Re: Meat Grinder Recommendations

Do you by any chance have a Kitchenaid stand mixer? They have a grinding attachment that I have used for 20 years to grind my meats. It was horrible to try and use for piping links, so like you I got a dedicated machine for piping, but as a grinder, works very well. As far as a stand alone, I do not...

Re: How Do You Do Hamburger?

I also like to grind my own ground beef. I like to use 1/3 of each, any thing from the Plate (usually skirt or flank), Sirloin, and Brisket. I wont make a burger without 30% fat, so I will add beef fat to reach that amount. I usually grind 4.5kg at a time. I figure the blend is usually about 10%, so...
