Re: Instant read (pocket) thermometers???

Sorry Mick, yes that flash and expensive thermo pen. The little weber cousin is very fast too. Not sure on it's waterproof rating but it definately repells beer! The only problem I have with them is their form factor. Have left too many in a roast and put down the lid.

Re: Instant read (pocket) thermometers???

What's the benefit of these compared to a weber 6 inch digital quick read for under $15? Bigger display and..?

Re: kamado seals

Quite a few on the BGE forum use the Rutland stove replacement kit for a large size BGE. 5/8 x 7 foot (95-6). $9 + shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MIPB6S/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=1278548962&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000HMOJY4&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1ST7...

Re: My new BGE

Thats a very different BGE bracket mechenism in the video than mine and yours Mike. I like the stainless lid straps and handle. New model I guess. Had a similar issue out of the box assembling the first time with lid alignment. The gasket goes very quickly in areas not meeting flush not realizing.

Re: My new BGE

Try the older wheel as is but perhaps consider an updated metal top to expand temp control range. I wouldn't suggest a gasket around the vent on a large egg as it's really not needed and the included dampener will be harder to switch and seat. The meduim egg on the other hand uses the same size meta...
