Re: Funny, embarrassing .... eventually yum!

Cheers Davo and 12*7 - in the end, we all had a good laugh ... interestingly - I read online about a ‘danger zone’ for low and slow - I don’t think I got mine to 60c quick enough and many people would have chucked my pork out for fear of food poisoning- but ... I’m typing this ... and therefore - I ...

Re: Funny, embarrassing .... eventually yum!

And that weird shot of bbq lid - me at 2am! Didn’t need to check it - my iGrill indicated the heat from phone ... but still had to check.

Funny, embarrassing .... eventually yum!

So... yesterday I decided to go low and slow on the Gen 2. Pork shoulder ... mis-read instructions thought six hrs - in the end it took eighteen at about 110-125 C! Made every mistake — sprayed surface - cooled temperature! Panicked - Covered it - panicked uncovered it - panicked - covered it .. pan...

Re: Can I buy a wooden BBQ cart?

Yeahbut - excellent question. Yeah ...but ... I am surprised - I would have thought some manufacturer would fill this gap. I know BBQ's Plus in Brighton, VIC - have some good looking tables for Primo Grills - but probably wrong size and functionality; perhaps they can be adapted? Here's a link for i...

Welcome Arnie. I agree it's a good place to get hints and tips and I also find out a lot about different types of BBQ's. Enjoy! :)

Standing rib roast

First roast on the new Gen 2! Great result - Cooked medium to our family’s liking - perhaps the dry rub was a little salty and spicy but yum nonetheless. Cut ribs away to get dry rub into broader surface area and then reconnected with twine. Recipe from Weber’s American BBQ book ... very good. iGril...

Re: Surf & Turf on the Cobb Grill

+1 - looks great - well done. Great marks on the steak! I thought for a minute you had a diamond grill pattern but nup, quarter turned with expertise. :) Obviously you're a fan of grill grates - do you use them often? Also - I had no idea what a Cobb was - now I do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0...

Re: How old is your Weber kettle?

If your grill was made from 1979 to 2014, the top vent on the lid will have one of these serial numbers which is a one or two lettered date code listed below. Thanks 12x7 - I just dated my kettle a 2007 model - now with a new lid FOC (I have a new cover now too!) and I'll sign up for the newsletter...

Re: Another working weekend

Yep, I am for the gas and charcoal combo. :) Also an impressive lack of green throughout the photo's above. Actually was watching Food Safari Earth recently ... some visibly tasty veg options being cooked over charcoal.... And I am with The Dane and Bronson ... smell is so important to...

Re: First Cold Smoke - Problems

Hey Banjo - welcome. I'm relatively new 'round these parts too. This post made me smile... I can picture some of your neighbours either very happy... knocking on the door with a bottle of wine or a little 'frown-ish' thinking.. "What is all the smoke and smell?!". I am no cold smoker so I can't offe...

Oh, and because I now can... a few easy snags on the big brother. IMG_3295.JPG And I should note - this photo was early in the cook - so they look a little crud on reflection... I am getting used to heat, I did not want to burn them so used a relatively low heat setting - ended up all good - browne...

And 24 hrs later - bang! A new colour-matched lid. Love it. Great stuff! Thanks again to the customer service team at Weber.
