Re: Scotch Fillet over Charcoal

Cooking steak over charcoal on Sunday with a nice glass of wine. A great way to enjoy your Sunday with your family. Spot on 12x ...very relaxing .. I do not have the coin at present but talking about Sunday arvo's with the family ...your Sunday arvo comment made me think... I ran into a lady at Bak...

Re: Scotch Fillet over Charcoal

That certainly looks fiiiine!! Hoping I find the time to prepare meals like this for the week.. Hi louwings ... fiiine indeed. :D For ease, I generally go the gas bbq during the week, just for ease of use a bit quicker than the charcoal kettle. I have little doubt you'd bang food like this out mid-...

Scotch Fillet over Charcoal

Howdy - I was inspired by a reverse sear thread earlier today. No - I did not reverse sear here .... but I did cook some scotch fillets on the Weber kettle for dinner. Here's a few photo's. It all worked well - perhaps over done for many but my wife and kids like it medium as opposed to medium rare....

Re: How To Cook A Filet Mignon Steak - Reverse Seared Filet Mignon With The Cold Grate Technique

Sorry - premature post ... I was saying it was quite a complex cook - perhaps complex is the wrong word but it does have a number of steps over a long period ... for a steak. It also doesn’t seem to look that appetising ... still, I bet it tastes wonderful. I am open to try it ... Just out of intere...

Wow! It would want to taste good because that is a long cook and reasonably complex in terms of number of steps/temperature/

Re: Weber Genesis II LX owners?

Howdy, I have the Gen 2 Premium 4 burner. Absolutely no problem searing steak 🥩 that I have experienced. The key seems to be allowing enough time for the hot plate/grills to reach heat - perhaps 5-10 mins max....salt and oil on steam before placing them on. Bang! Good results for me. In short, I’m v...

Re: Cold Grate Technique to cook steaks

Old Dave - given you seem to have experimented with the SNS - do you think it's a reasonable accessory for the kettle? I think that the SNS is one of the best accessories that you can purchase for the Weber kettles. It works great with the longer lower temperature cooks and I use it with about any ...

Re: Cold Grate Technique to cook steaks

Hey 12*7 thanks for the post! Really interesting and I love Old Dave's alternative as well. I've never used SNS but I am tempted to try the cold great set-up. I don't quite get the easy rotating grate ... my grate seems to rotate easily enough? Also, I am guessing you don't need SNS for cold grate. ...
