Re: Scotch fillet roast on Weber kettle -help!

Hmm,

I don't really think so, it's sort of there in beef. My dad used to cook a mean roast beef but that was most always there.

First Pizza on the Q

Well, I WAS going to do this for dinner yesterday but it was 37 degrees in Perth and took a long time to cool down, so we had some salad instead. I'm rather traditional with pizza although I do make them a lot, just in the oven, never have used a BBQ but it looks very tempting on the Q so started re...

Re: University research - how to make the perfect pizza

ROFL again!!!

I just moved house - Ikea should hire me - downsizing is no fun and the irony is you divest yourself of stuff that doesn't fit, then you have to build to fill the gaps :)

Re: Scotch fillet roast on Weber kettle -help!

:) You guys are driving me crazy with all this talk of Kamados and smokers and low and slow :) I've only, until a couple of weeks ago, cooked on kettles, and have done a lot of smoking and low and slow on them but I think I need to get some good results from the Q before the wife is going to let me ...

Re: Scotch fillet roast on Weber kettle -help!

hmm, That's where I always put it when using both baskets, others may have other ideas but it's logical, gets the heat where it is needed. If you only use one basket then the top vent on the side away from the fire draws the heat across the food. Certainly fully open though. BTW my apologies over th...

Ah, herd contamination - has echoes in the vaccination debate, makes sense, see what you are saying.

Of course need infection in the first place but a lot of vectors.

Re: Scotch fillet roast on Weber kettle -help!

:) first thing I noticed with a kettle - vent position matters, much more so with an asymmetric fire but it still matters. No ache, see if we can collectively create a nice meal and stop some jitters :) BTW, been so long since I cooked in a fan-forced I had no input to offer, any piece of meat goes ...

Re: Scotch fillet roast on Weber kettle -help!

:) Geez, glad you turned up :) Utterly agree, but was trying to keep it simple. Other places I've tried to tell people to just use one basket and they have never wanted to try it, not getting the Weber way of heat distribution I guess and good as the book is it doesn't get into that much. I've actua...

Re: Weber at Masters

Heh, I don't know with Masters but I assume they are not an Official Weber outlet since I've never seen the thermometer models of Qs on display for example. They have some nice well priced accessories though and a good mix of smoking wood. In the end its a hardware store, I like their alternative to...

so what colour was it ? :)

Looks cool regardless, I really should pay more attention to the multitude of Weber models, all I have is a red kettle and a Q, but they suffice, for now :)

Re: Scotch fillet roast on Weber kettle -help!

:) Seems none of the real experts are around, so, see what we can do :) Do you have the Original Weber kettle cookbook? If you do on page 68 there is a recipe for whole fillet that I've used many times, always good, you don't need much beyond the beef, some brandy, a black pepper grinder, some liver...
