Looftlighters at Bunnings

I think they have had them for the last 2 years Sent from my GT-I9305T using Tapatalk Maybe it varies from place to place? I feel like I've been looking (off & on) at Bunnings Mascot & Ashfield for over a year now & when that didn't work I was trying Auto One stores, which supposedly also stock the...

What Did You Cook Part 9 - Dec 2013

Did a couple of Taralga Grass Fed 1kg Mini Bistecca Fiorentina's last night on the GA Weber. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/29/yresaza8.jpg Although I've become accustomed to cooking slow spit roasts with lump wood charcoal, I wasn't 100% happy with this attempt. I should've waited a lot longer bef...

Re: What did you cook for Christmas?

POSTED IN MY SPIT PIG THREAD... Thought I'd chuck it in here too for others. Started charcoal at 8:30am. Rain hit so had to get the tarp up at the same time. Got the pig on my 9am. Started her up high as suggested. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/26/ejeqe8yg.jpg 1hr later, she's coming along nicely...

Spit Roast Pig

Hey guys. Picked up the spit. It's height adjustable. Motor sits on a fixed position though has a spring on the pulley side so as to keep the motor and pulley tight when raising and lowering.

Pics to come Boxing Day.

Spit Roast Pig

Thanks mate. Have been thinking ahead, AGAIN! Anyway was wondering if anyone uses any sort of temp gauge like maybe a grill gauge to keep temp stable? Or do you just use the hand method? Bit paranoid as I've tried 2 mini (2.5kg) rolled roasts on the mini spit and both took over 2 hrs to cook because...

Spit Roast Pig

Thanks Gatsby right next to me actually. UG any more info now that I've posted the pic of the spit? Thanks Yep, that's a pretty basic setup, run it like Meatman described, you are stuck with the height, so moving the fire under the pig is the temperature control. Get a kids garden rake/shovel set f...

Thermometer

Thanks for that Chris.

Did the test and it's all the same. Albeit it moved up and down a lot quicker because of the extreme temps in iced water and boiling water.

I'll be taking it back tomorrow.

Re: Thermometer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2PXFNvHJg4 Just got one of the HLP Thermapen's. Am I right in saying if I test it by wrapping my palm around the probe it should give me the "0.5 second read" just like a piece of meat or roast? If so then it certainly doesn't. It's goes up in temp in 1 sec increment...
