that kamado is not a number 5 as i originally thought. still but, it is an imperial, but it just might be one of the first ones made. i would date it around the end of the korean war or early 60s. i don't think i would bother too much in the fixing up unless you want it as a show piece, or you need ...

that little Q my friend, does not need cleaning, what a great pick up.

use a trivet and double foil with a couple of grease tracks cut into it under the trivet. set your dials, put your lamb on and let it rip.

i would have hated to taste the stuff that came off this before you got i. don't please don't attack it with a wire brush of any sort. get a good clean hot flame going and try and burn it offf. i think hoggs or shayne might be able to give you better instructions. but please dont hit it with a wire ...

i have olny done these in a crock pot.

if you do use your BBQ set it up for low and slow, maybe 1hr to take on smoke, then triple wrap it in foil with your favourite liquids and let it go to the temp you wish for. i think 185f should be a good target temp.
