Re: Legality/Certification of natural gas conversion
A very good point, Chris. I spent some time in Alice Springs and lots of houses had bayonet fittings for gas space heaters. Whether there were some accidents involving this to make changes, I'm not sure. I got my gas license in NT and the rules I'm quoting were in Qld. As I said in my post, check wi...

Re: Legality/Certification of natural gas conversion
As a licenced gas fitter, I have to keep up to date with the latest regulations. At the last trade night I attended, we were advised that it is illegal to connect a portable appliance to fixed piping. Quite a few of us argued about this, as some motorhomes have a bayonet fitting on the outside so th...

chilli prawns
On Christmas eve, I shelled, deveined and marinated some endeavour prawns in garlic, sweet chilli sauce and green ginger wine. Refrigerated overnight and pan fried for Christmas lunch nibblies. They were very tasty and all disappeared before any pics could be taken. I have more in the fridge for tom...

I'm also enjoying a beer in Cairns, although after having lived here for 32 years, today doesn't really call for air conditioning.

Re: Getting back to basics with the Weber kettle
G'day Chris, I'm very limited for room, so I just have a BBQ plate, made by me, which fits our 2 burner gas stove, and works very well. All things are somewhat compromised when travelling, ie. too big to get into small parks, too small to have everything you would like to travel with. We have everyt...

Re: Getting back to basics with the Weber kettle
I've really (temporarily) got the bug for Weber cooking. Lamb shanks cooking away nicely to take on my upcoming tip. Hence temporarily have the bug. I'm heading off tomorrow for a couple of months in the motorhome, so the Weber will be back to the shed until I get home. Will probably be taken out ag...

Re: Getting back to basics with the Weber kettle
We were so impressed with last Sunday's pork, I have another piece of pork in it at the moment. I recently won the 'twin roast pack' at my local watering hole, so tonight's dinner is for my father-in-law's father's day. It was good luck that it was pork, our favourite!! I have a very good outdoor ki...

Re: Getting back to basics with the Weber kettle
I have had my weber kettle for over 30 years and last Sunday gave it a quick clean up and produced the best roast pork with excellent crackling, doing it as the book says. Got great comments from all who enjoyed the meal. Enjoyed the leftovers for a couple of days after as well.

son's first drink
I took my son out for his first beer.
Gave him a Fourex......he didn't it - I had it.
Then I got him Carlsberg, he didn't like, I had it.
It was the same with Heineken, Fosters, Guinness and Cider.
By the time we got down to the Rum, I could hardly push the bloody pram home.....

Cheap flights.
My wife asked me what I was doing on the computer last.
I explained that I was looking for cheap flights.
"I love you!" she said, and then got excited, quickly undressed and we had the most amazing sex ever,
which is odd because she's never shown an interest in darts before.

Re: Dinners to cook ahead of time...
I find a big pot of ox tail stew taste better after a couple of days. It keeps well in the fridge for quite a few days, but because of the bones, I never tried freezing it.

The 'nuts & bolts' sounded too good to resist, so I got the ingredients and whipped some up this afternoon. They are definitely as good as they sound. Thank you for the enlightenment.

I use a Mapp Gas butane soldering torch which I had when I was working. It has the heat beads going in no time. Check my posts and pics.

Re: Need new BBQ, but Weber Quality doesn't excite!
I have a Weber kettle which I've had for nearly 30 years and the only rust, (minor) is around some scratches where it fell out of my ute because I hadn't secured it properly. I also have a Rinnai 3 burner with wok burner which I've had for 15 years and again with no signs of rust and I live on the c...
Golf
One day during a game on the golf course I accidentally overturned my golf cart. Elizabeth, a very attractive and keen golfer who lives in a villa on the golf course, heard the noise and called out, "Are you OK?" "I'm fine thanks," I replied. "My name's Jack," I said and introduced myself. "Jack, fo...
