Re: Its Quiet on this Board

At 74 I've well and truly seen the years of shit BBQ equipment and totally agree with Davo's opinion of Weber. I doubt that there is a BBQ supplier in Aus who has the warranty and back up service equal to Weber. I can personally speak of one very large franchise master base that boasts and advertise...

Re: Its Quiet on this Board

I'll tell the truth that everyone is walking around. This great forum was rooted because the owner of the forum let a mate drown the place pushing his product. This led to faction fights and the place virtually disintegrated because people like me who got sick of the bullshit went to other places wh...

Re: How much do you open your vents for low n slow?

Top wide open, control it with the bottom vent only. The fire depends on air but it needs the flow to get fresh stuff in and the smoke out.

Re: Has anyone used the slow n sear?

I'll stick with the Snake myself, I'm not sure the S&S would be quite as adjustable as the snake where you can control the number of beads burning at any time simply by how many rows you build the snake out of. Sometimes I use 3 rows and sometimes 4. I think it would be good for the newcomers bu...

Re: Making your own charcoal

You need a bloody big open space because if you didn't know about smoke before, you certainly will when making charcoal.

Re: How do you setup your charcoal for indirect cooking?

I agree with Davo, never had a problem, but then again I've always used gas to start any beads or charcoal, using starters is a sure way to disaster taste wise.

Re: Where to buy Picanha in Sydney?

I cook mine on a hot spit, that's the South American way. Sliced about 7cm thick and doubled over with the fat on the outside.
Take great care finding the direction of the grain, it can be very tricky with this cut of beef.

Thanks Bronson, I have an account with AliExpress so I checked out the Thermopro. Have a great liking for the TP-20, can get it for under $53.00.

Re: Weber Original Charcoal Pizza Oven #6520

Dave try the Coconut Heat beads, they burn hotter than the standard ones, might give you quicker cooking time with less chance of stewing the toppings.

Re: Which Charcoal to use?

I'm using their Coconut heat beads more and more, as well as the lump charcoal. The 10Kg bags od Coconut HB are about $18.00 at Bunnings but I picked up a couple of bags from Coles for $13.00/bag. It burns hotter than the ordinary bead and has a far better smell as well as being easier to light, I'm...

Re: Are head beads the best briquettes around?

Bill44, Quite a set of charcoal BBQs in your signature. What's your take on the best charcoal briquettes to use, eg for your kettle? For the kettles: Low and slow is Heat Beads. Quick cook is Lump Charcoal. Longer cook is Lump Charcoal and Robot turds. For the Spit: Robot Turds with some large Lump...

The pork neck is part of the money muscle that comes out of the pork shoulder, and the scotch fillet is cut from the rib section very tender and needs searing as apposed to low and slow Pork Scotch Fillet is cut from a different muscle than Beef Scotch Fillet, you can keep saying your version until...
