you mention snake, so i am assuming a kettle or similar. Indirect is the go, like a roast. Think 180-200deg for an hourish

did you setup the bbq for indirect cooking ? google foil & trivet method. Basically a double layer of foil sits on the grill (protecting the food from direct heat) , the food sits on a trivet above the foil, allowing the air to circulate around it

AND - have you ever noticed, the longer you cook something (think 10hr lamb shoulder) - you've put heaps of salt etc on it - the cook dilutes the salt & flavours somewhat - compared to just griilling a piece quickly

they all have probe holes, but the elite has larger silicone ones.

And they are the same diameter.

Which ever model you buy, he'll be happy. My Frontier is the best thing my family ever gave me. :D I use it heaps and they all benefit. Yep, a 2.5kg leg should take hr & half (90mins) to get to medium - thereabouts.
