Re: bbq competitions
Hey mate Depends on where you're situated. There are a few comps coming up near QLD / NSW. Another in VIC / SA in October. For gear, you need enough room on your smoker or smokers to cook 4-5 categories. You don't have to enter all of them, but plan on cooking for at least a couple categories! You'l...

Re: Northside Brisbane Butchers
Hey all I've been playing the butcher game here on northside of Brissie for the last year and a half. And it's been a fun game! (not) Firstly: I'm not affiliated with any of the butchers. Even for competition stuff, I pay for everything. In fact, I don't even really get any discount at any joints th...

Smokey Mountain, ProQ, Stainless Grill LIFEHACK
Hey guys Don't normally post much but thought this was well worth it. I always struggled to clean my smokey mountain grills to pristine stainless. Ended up just accepting the shitty black muck that'd build up near corners and joins etc. There's a SOLUTION! Step 1: Acquire some woolworths or coles so...

Re: Looking to buy an offest
Yep I'm pretty sure it's around there. Dunno if Rob was going to try and do them for less than 3k, but I know he was hoping for late 2's so will see what he reckons he'll do them for.I heard the radar hill smoker 16 is 3k isn't it?

Re: Buffalo Bar Brisbane
It's shit. Just like all the other places around town that do low and slow "BBQ". Cooked in electric smokers or at best some gas cookers.
But the wings are pretty good

Re: Pulled Pork for beginners, by a beginner.
Nah mate not ambitious at all. Run your wsm at 250f. Wrap your shoulders in foil when they get to 160f or so. They should get there in about 5 hours. Maybe even a bit less. Pull them off the cooker at around 200f. That'll take another 3 hours after you wrap them. Keep them wrapped in an esky until y...

Re: Will I have to give up bbq?
It depends on whether it was a calcium or a uric acid stone. Both are more common when you're dehydrated, you need concentrated urine enough to seed a crystal so the stone can grow on. They reckon alcohol only contributes to stone formation because of the period of dehydration and concentrated urine...

Re: Kamado v Offset
I have upgraded from a smokey mountain to a pellet cooker and a 20 inch offset, and despite feeling guilty for not giving my old WSM any love recently I am very much enjoying the bigger pits. Cramming a 6kg brisket onto the top shelf of an 18.5inch WSM was never fun, I'd have to trim off the end of ...
