Re: Ch 33 'the FOOD channel'
Watched a couple of episodes of Underground BBQ challenge yesterday afternoon. They had some massive BBQ's cooking huge amounts of meat. One of them looked to be similar height dimensions to a fuel tanker, not quite as long. He towed it around with a bus.

Re: Controlling Weber Baby Q temperature
I have had a Baby Q for about four weeks and have done three roasts in it. Tell him not to worry too much about the heat, especially if it is only at 200c/400f. Just follow the instructions with regards the temperature controller, stick your meat in and sit back and watch it. The roasts I have done ...

Re: Christmas Holiday Cook-ups
Thanks Davo. have come to the same conclusion, that I should just stick with heat beads for the time being. The 16kg box from bunnings is pretty good value to. I presume the beads are the same as sold in the various size packagings in different shops. I haven't been able to track the coconut beads d...

Re: Weber Baby Q frame MELTS to the ground
Wow. A sobering story to read. I hadn't thought there was too much risk of this, as long as I scraped it out every now and then. Will be a bit more diligent from now on. We had a big fat fire in our old 4 burner. After that, I cook a bit further away from the house. Glad things didn't get worse for ...

Re: Christmas Holiday Cook-ups
Butterflied lamb leg tonight. Tried some lump charcoal for the first time and didn't get the heat I was looking for. Ended up chucking some heat beads in the chimney to give it a boost. Turned out alright, great smoke flavour, but didn't get the crispy crunchy bits I was hoping for. http://i1179.pho...

Re: Greetings All
Tell your other half not to worry about the perceived small size. The Q cooks so quickly you can cook a heap of stuff very quickly. I only have a Baby Q and catered for 8 people the other day. Chicken kebabs, steak and sausages for 8, plus leftovers, all cooked in less than 30 minutes, plus 10 minut...

Re: Different Charcoal For Different Situations
With real lump charcoal, Its can be a cat out of the bag even with the same brand. The original wood density has the most effect. Then size. One deals with it one the day. If its light junky imported you know its going to burn faster. If its Gidgee you know its going to burn long so adjust how much...

Yeah Pesto, in hindsight I should have chucked them on earlier. How long would you generally cook yours all up?

First go at beef ribs
Had my first go at slow cooked beef ribs for Saturday nights dinner. I picked up a 5 rib piece, weighing nearly 3kgs. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x392/Bremic2005/20160227_1210311.jpg Was only going to allow it 4 hours to cook, but ended up sticking it on a couple of hours earlier, figuring I...

Re: Pizza stones
Thanks all. Ended up just cooking them on the tray, on the stone. Came up very well. I was going to take them off the tray and finish on the stone, but they were only taking 5 - 6 minutes each to cook and wasn't much time to muck around with taking them off the tray. Mymonaro, we used the Lauke flou...

Pizza stones
A question for the wise. I have just bought a couple of Weber pizza stones, going to have a first crack at pizza on the bbq tonight. The weber instructions say that we should put the pizza on the metal tray, then on the pizza stone. I thought the benefit of the pizza stone was that it would draw the...

Its a great show I want some lamb tail fat and few flat skewers and a zirh http://www.anissas.com/blog1/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/musa-his-zirkh-copy.jpg I think I saw that episode last night. Each year we buy a couple of (very) fat lambs from a local farmer, slaughter and butcher them ourselves. ...

If you had two solid hot plates, and left the lid up, would it be an issue? Non hooded BBQ's have a solid plate.Smokey wrote:shannonrm wrote:Hey everyone
3) Hooded bbq's (including the weber Q) must have half the cooking area or part there of, as a grill.
