Lamb ribs

After an enforced break from bbqing (not too many bbqs in hospital) I'm ready to get back in to it. I just picked up a whole lamb and I now have two sets of ribs, along with lots of yummy other bits. Looking at them they appear to be a thinner version of pork ribs. So is it appropriate to "low ...

Re: Beef rib prep question

No expert here but I do two things. Firstly I scored the top and underside to make sure the rub gets into the meat. Secondly I place the rib meat side down for the first three hours so the juices run into the drier meat layer. 6-7 hours at 120C and they are yummy!!!!! The top layer is still coarser ...

NRL Grand Final Food

Doing ribs tomorrow for the footy. I have two racks of St Louis cut pork ribs and while I was in the butcher found a packet of "Korean Beef Ribs" which seem to be a beef short rib but with a full thickness of meat. I do my pork ribs for 5 hours at 120C and was thinking of putting on the be...

Re: Dehydrator or Electric smoker

Just as some more background. The wife is after an Excaliber dehydrator worth over $500. So my thoughts were I could get another smoker for that :D So if I can just convince her a Hark can dehydrate - and it will be me doing the the dehydrating anyway, not her!

Dehydrator or Electric smoker

I am looking at getting a good dehydrator for veggie garden produce and jerky. After looking at the prices and the various unit they will cost similar or more than a Hark electric smoker. I'm wondering if the hark electric would do the job of dehydrating, and give me another smoker option. Also I co...

Re: Outdoor fireplace

Angryman,

Good advice. I was going to use concrete block because there are less blocks than bricks and I am the worlds worst brickie. The commons and fire brick sounds like a good idea - I'll just need to call in a couple of favours down the pub with a mate that's a brickie/tiler.

Re: Outdoor fireplace

Looks good and i suppose it depends on what you want. While it's great for cooking and looks the part, I'm not sure how much heat you'd get sitting around that on a chilly evening unless it was roaring. But as I said, I like to look of it and it depends on what the main function you want is. Whatev...
