New Australian BBQ Wood Pellets - Have your Say!
I'm happy with whatever hardwood you can make them out of that would be general purpose use and in 10-15kg bags. If you want to make special flavours then I reckon 2kg-5kg bags would be the way to go as you could use them on a per cook basis, then revert back to your normal preferred pellet, or mix ...

Re: Costco ribs
What does Costco charge forthem? Costco loin baby back ribs are $18.99 per kg. Average size is 1.8 to 2 kg Woolworths are $21.00 per kg and are just bone and mostly spareribs. Next time I got I will be buying around 10 racks just to have in the freezer. Yeah thats what I did recently, they freeze a...

Pit Barrel Cooker
I have one and love it. Way better than the WSM that I sold, and beats my UDS to the point I don't use it anymore. It's a great way to cook if you use it how the video manuals say to. Doesn't use that much fuel compared to WSM, in actual fact it cooks quicker and therefore uses less. I have mine set...

GMG any good?
My experiences with the GMG are well documented in another thread here. Despite all that, I would recommend them as an entry level pellet grill. The Don godke downdraft mod is mandatory on them, as it fixes the niggling temp issues and improves both pellet efficiency and smoke flavour - get from urb...

Getting back to basics with the Weber kettle
Did a roast pork last night on the weber and it came out insanely good. It's the best device for getting ALL the skin to crackle up that I've ever used. Think I just filled the 2 baskets and out one on either side with drip pan in the middle until it got to 74 degrees internal. It's interesting what...

Firmware Update GMG Davey Crockett
How can this be done to a non-WiFi model? Or should I just buy the WiFi upgrade from U/G? Hi Mixin, You can't upgrade a non-WiFi controller.....I did suggest to GMG a while back that a USB port would be a good thing but....Have not seen it yet......WiFi is the future! Regards Chris I'm pretty sure ...

Yep I just sit them on top. You could do the whole wing on them, but if you cut the wings down you'll have issues with bits falling into the grooves I reckon.

Weber Q control setting
From memory you leave both burners on for first 20 mins. The roast setting is about 1 quarter of the way between low and high, but play around with it as I like to do some things a bit hotter. Download the user manual to verify as its chock full of pics and info.

Yeah my only issues has been comments along the lines of "you BBQ guys are a bit weird" .... Figured that was probably going to happen in my case anyway so who cares.

I have a set for my charcoal Weber and take the middle square piece and put it in my family Q to finish a reverse sear. Works really well, but you want temp smokin hot to get best effect. And yeah, they will only ever be clean and shiny before your first cook and then forever not shiny anymore. Sent...

1824 Brisket
My local butcher, after much arm twisting, ordered in a box of 1824 brisket that he claims is as good as Cape Grim. He tells me it's all grain fed. Anyone had any experience with it? It's a good 5-6kg and looks the business compared to the other rubbish they claim as brisket. Sent from my iPhone usi...
