Re: ProQ question
Holy crap this works. WSM with just the pan in place and some foil to catch anything that drips is genius. Control vents with bottom cents as described. Will not bother using water again. What did you cook tonight? So in respect to your original question, I assume the ProQ Elite 20 would behave the...

Re: ProQ question
The pan doesn't get damaged from having high heat under it with no water? Might have to try this tonight Just be sure to double foil it. Makes for easier clean up. Mine has gone for 18hrs and still had heaps of heatbeads left, some even unlit. And watch it on the way up as it can overshoot easily. ...

Re: ProQ question
Does everyone always use water in their WSM/ProQ?
I used it for the first couple of cooks then went dry pan and have never looked back. I have filled it a few times since and can notice no difference in the moisture of the meat? I just find it takes ages to get to temp and uses triple the fuel.

Re: Akorn and Dragon General Discussion
I found with my L&S cook on the weekend I had the bottom vent at 0.25 and the top around 0.75.

Re: Akorn and Dragon Dome Temps
The Standard gauge will be a $10 replacement item, so that tells you something. Also also probes are not suitable for taking pit temperature, they will give you an idea, but on the Maverick ET733 or 735 you need to tell the probe what it is measuring, because the logic it uses is different. Cheers ...

Re: Akorn and Dragon Dome Temps
No. But i had a probe on the grill and a probe just dropped in top air vent. Both read about the same.
I'll take the dome thermo out when i get a chance. I use thermometers all day at work and have checked the calibration of my igrill's. They are spot on.

Re: Akorn and Dragon roll call
I have added a Dragon to my artillery.
Smashed some steaks and pizzas in it. Goes well.
I'll low n slow a pork butt or ribs in a few weeks when I have time to sit and watch it.

Re: Junior Joe size
We already have a OTS and a WSM, plus the 6 burner gassy we hardly use anymore.
I'll check out the Dragon as well then.
Cheers

Junior Joe size
Hi There is a BBQ Galore opening up near us and they are having some big deals. They have the Junior Joe going out for half price. The wife and I have been toying with the idea of getting a kamado next to add to our bbq collection. Is the junior big enough to cook pizzas on? Will a stone fit inside ...

Re: just bought a WSM, noob here, please be nice
Your gonna love your WSM! I used water the first few times, but now I usually just run foiled pan. I find it uses less coals and I have done 18hr+ cooks with it and still have unburnt heatbeads in the charcoal ring. I buy 16kg boxes of heatbeads from bunnings when they are on special. I generally us...

Re: What Did You Cook Part 11 - January 1 2015
On the weekend I cooked 2 butts in the WSM. One was rubbed with magic dust, the other mustard and magic dust. The one with the mustard was miles better than the one without. Much better bark, cooked faster and was much softer and juicer. Made pulled pork tacos with guacamole and mango salsa and then...
