Re: kamado grill grate
I use the ones from my kettle in my Kamado Big Joe. They fit well. yes, but they dont char like u get in a top steak restaurant.......once u try grill grates, nothing compares...not the best pic but wont get char like this thru standard grates http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah22/garyosborne70/...

Re: The Snake Method (thanks Kevin)
this thread is really old but i want to chime in heat beads are pregnated with an accelerant to burn....its why u are supposed to leave them a while before cooking on them. I would not recommend this method with the branded heat beads unless u want to contaminate your food....lump charcoal go for yo...

Re: Akorn vs Kamado Joe Classic review

I havent noticed any rust on my KJ yet, my webber has died (the grill bits anyway) and my gasser too is dead from rust. my KJ grates live on the fence (not in the bbq) exposed to everything......

Re: I joined the Kamado ranks
i can recommend the KJ heat deflectors, i bought 1 for the big joe and it is still going strong, compared to my other solutionss. When i first got the joe they were changing their inventory so i couldn't get a KJ deflector at the time. So i made my own: 1. terracotta plates, dishes, tile (must not b...

Re: Akorn vs Kamado Joe Classic review
Not teed off. Just i feel u have/had an agenda that is not transparent. Whether its is true or not, i dunno. It seems to only come out when KJ is mentioned. U may not own a smokekings but i assume u have touched/used 1 for u to be so gushing about them. I personally wouldn't recommend anything unles...

Whatever mate. You said they were the same and they are not. You constantly push 1 over the other when u own neither.

Re: Akorn vs Kamado Joe Classic review
They are similar, not the same. Classic Joe 18", Smokeking 21", big Joe 24" I have a big joe which i got a good deal on. If i had my time again i would look very closely at the Smoke kings as they appear good value. Further differences: 1. The heat deflectors on the Joes are the best ...

Re: kamado grill grate
Grill grates are 1 of the best accessories imo. Prob prefer them to cast iron grates for a couple of reasons: 1....they are light, so i have used them mostly out of the kamado on walks etc...part of my portable bbq kit 2........they heat up quickly, and cool down quickly...again good for the portabl...

With those commercial glues...is there any "off gassing", chemical taint, etc..Are they designed to be used in ovens? around food I actually dont need a repair just curious. The komado is like a chemical free zone due to absorbent nature of clay...id be worried i was introducing something ...

Re: New Kamado Joe Big Joe owner

PITA to get off and on though to be honest. Im comtemplating rigging an awning as a semi permane...

Ribs on the Northern Beaches
So i have almost given up ever eating ribs again due to price of them these days. I was told by a butcher in forestville that the price is due to the fact we export alot of our own produce and there's issue with importing stuff on the bone due to disease control etc. My local butcher sells NY style/...

Re: 3 2 1 question.
Bone down (the side the membrane is on) once in Crutch...I agree that 2 hours is to much, so my suggestions would be to gingerly open foil at 90 minutes and see what you think. I will add a caveat that I cook my Spares at 275°F for those 3 hours so they render the fat better ergo they are further a...
