I wouldn't worry about expiry dates considering you can wet age in the cryovac bags, would only get better!

Yep, costco. I picked up a 6.5kg one on the weekend. A lot cheaper than anywhere else I could find also.

This series is definitely worth a watch, I've seen pretty much all of it already (due to my work) and can vouch for it.

Re: Kickstarter: True wireless meat thermometer...
You can buy WiFi extenders. They just plug into a power point that is within range of your modem and repeat the signal out further.

Re: Kickstarter: True wireless meat thermometer...
I like this idea, but it has some serious flaws in my opinion; 1. The single probe model only runs on bluetooth - whilst the RFC for bluetooth claims a certain maximum distance, Ive rarely seen anyone actually achieve it. This means you have to keep your control device (phone, ipad, ipod touch, etc...

Re: Kickstarter: True wireless meat thermometer...
Apparently the battery and electronics are in the meat end of the probe so they shouldn't see the higher temps from within the smoker, that's the theory anyway.
I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with a wireless fan control unit so you can change temperature from your phone. That would be nice.

Re: Meat Grinder Recommendations
I was using a grinding attachment for my wife's kenwood mixer but that thing is from the 60's and I worry about over working it. I looked and LEM but they don't seem to be available in Australia. The equivalent brand here is called Fabio Leonardi, from what I can tell they are the same but quite pri...

Meat Grinder Recommendations
Can anyone recommend a stand alone grinder? Up to the $300 mark?
I've got a sausage stuffer so just need a reliable mincer that doesn't easily get clogged up.
Cheers.

That looks like the perfect setup for me! Pity I'm looking for a new wireless thermometer now.
Maybe I'll have to wait for this...

Re: Maverick ET736
I'd be keen to see the specs on this one also. I was worried about the range of the 735 on blue tooth so I've held off. Tried to find a bit more info on it but there isn't much around.
I saw that it might only support one probe, hope that isn't the case!
