Re: BBQ gurus advice needed on new BBQ this week, please

Hi wilsonj
Davo's suggestion to get a seperate flat plate bbq is a very good one. I believe you can buy 2 burner fold up flat plate bbq's at bunnings for $200 new. Second hand should get one for $50 or less. You could use that for campinp too if you go. Best of both worlds then.

Re: Weber Genesis vs other brand hooded bbq

Hi Davo Was just re reading your post about the genesis and the foil and trivets. So would you just put foil over where the burners are ? Then racks (trivets) on top of that? So put burners on high for say 15 minutes then on low for rest of cooking Time? I have just cooked my first beer can chicken ...

Hi wilsonj
I believe you would or should have got a flat plate with your genesis. So that should cover a lot of bases. Did you get a cookbook with your new bbq. ?
That would guide you on using the new bbq. I think you have made a wise choice. Bbq is what Weber do. Enjoy.

Re: Weber Jumbo Joe Kettle

Hi Davo
I have 2 x 18 inch kettles. Don't have a jumbo joe. One of my 18's has a hinged cooking grate. Would you be able to buy one from weber Australia and would that fit the jumbo joe.

6 Burner Hooded bbq

Who make a 6 burner hooded bbq that one can put 2 flat plates in? That should be close to the area of a 4 burner flat plate bbq. How hot does this bbq get with a 20 minute pre heat on the grill?
Thanks.

Re: Weber Jumbo Joe Kettle

Hi Davo
Yes I think a Jumbo Joe would be a really good portable bbq. I don't have one but have 2x the 18 inch weber kettles. Just for me and my wife I am finding the 18s work really well.

Weber Baby Q Rotisserie

Anyone use the Weber Baby Q Rotisserie to cook roast pork? How did the crackling turn out? What prep did you have to do to get crackling with the rotisserie? Thanks for info.

Weber Genesis vs other brand hooded bbq

The Weber genesis bbq is expensive new. But can be bought for around $500 second hand. The other brand 4 burner hooded bbq's are around that new. So should one buy a second hand genesis or a other brand new? Pro's and con's of both. I am biased to the weber as I have 2 baby q"s a gas ga and 3 charco...

Re: Generic rotisserie for Weber Baby Q?

Hi CK
The weber baby q needs the rotisserie shield to set up. Most generic rotisserie's are just the rod and motor. Now if you could make the shield yourself than you could just buy the rod and motor and save some money. I am not that good to make one myself. Good luck.

Re: Gas Weber Kettle vs Baby Q

Wow. What a difference a year and a bit makes. I now have 2 weber baby q bbq's and I have just bought a gas kit for my 22 inch weber kettle. Which still leaves me with 3 charcoal bbq's. My family think I have a problem. But they are not complaining because they like what I cook.

Re: Weber Go Anywhere vs Cobb Cooker

Hi Old Dave
Do you mean to use lump charcoal instead of heat beads? I have never used lump charcoal. It seems hard to find.
Thanks for the info.
