You'll love that, I've had the pleasure of having a bit of a play in there. If you've only used the Weber Q then this should be a real eye opener.

Re: Nearing 40. Having my mid-life crisis with a BBQ.

My old 4 burner wasn't too bad for low and slowish, wood chips at one end and meat down the other. Smoke would get to the meat but it used to sit around 115-120. I can do 107 low and slow in my family q and I ignite the pellets out of my treager in an inverted kitchen strainer, often cook beef ribs ...

Food Safari - Fire

There is an interesting article in the West Weekend magazine that comes with today's West Australian newspaper. Seems the new series of Food Safari on SBS will be about BBQ, cooking over coals and charcoal and fire. It goes to air in January, and there is the cookbook that always goes with each seri...

Re: 40th Bday Present for Hubby - Best BBQ for $3k??

Hi Yakabot and Wazza, thanks for your input already :) His mate has a pellet smoker so he was super excited about your suggestion. And his brother's has a large flat plate for pizza's. Personally I'd like a go at a rotisserie for a small lamb. Maybe a beer fridge... I figure if it's done well it wi...

Re: 40th Bday Present for Hubby - Best BBQ for $3k??

Hi Mali, First off I must say perfect 40th present. Can we have a little more info please. Are you looking for a single gas bbq? Could there be a combination of different bbq's? You mentioned building it into stonework, does this exist already and so do they need to be a certain size. If stonework d...

Re: To buy a Ziggy Triple Grill or not

Hi Daazzaa, I have a twin burner Ziggy and a Family Q. Dad has a Triple burner Ziggy. My Family Q is NG. While it's true these types of bbqs use a lot less gas than a 4 burner, but with the twin burner I was going through probably 4 bottles a year, the bigger one may use a little more. At $30 exchan...

Re: pls help in selection

I'm getting excited already :) Just checked our local outdoor BBQ store in thomastown has demos running over next two weekends. One for weber 330 and other green mountain. I think it would be best to go there with family and experience it. BBQ store has listed price around $45 for 12.5 kg pellets f...

Re: pls help in selection

Hi Mirz, This may or may not be the answer you are after, but I'm with Steinboys on this one. I have an issue with dropping $2 - 2.5k on a gas bbq. And for the record, I am not going to be a bbq snob and knock gassers, they definitely have their place, and I could not be without mine, I just wanted ...
