Re: Nitrile gloves

I have them (bought a 100 box a few years back). They were marketed as tough gloves for mechanics - it's difficult to puncture them with most tools & tasks when working on cars. I use them when cleaning the BBQ & oven, and when doing greasy car jobs. They hold up well to punishment, but you ...

Re: Spot the Space station, emails from NASA

Thanks Titch. Wish I'd seen this earlier... My 5.5 y.o. niece (who lives with us) mentioned the space station when she came home from school the other day. Now I just have to find a day when we can see it at sunset, and not some ridiculous hour (for her) like 4.30am...... by then she'll probably hav...

Re: Beefeater pizza oven destroying pizza stones!

If you're in NSW I can highly recommend these guys: http://www.fieldfurnace.com.au/ They do cash sales over the counter, and are more than happy to help you decide on what you need. I bought 300mm x 300mm x 40mm thin bricks (like a paver) - marketed as bread oven floor tiles, and you can buy them by...

Looks like I'll have to put a new Wi-Fi controller onto the birthday list for next year (Christmas is already done & dusted)

Is this a good buy or should i try to get it for less?
That's a ripper deal. It says used but like new, and I don't doubt it from the condition.

Not enough height for the Xmas turkey or 2 standing chooks though.

Re: Cheap Kettles any good to start with?

Also - avoid the compact kettle. It's really only good for direct grilling, as there's not enough depth like the real kettle. There's a deluge of compacts on ebay all the time, so don't get caught out. The photos people take often don't show the compact's side profile (or bolt-on legs) so I find the...

Re: Cheap Kettles any good to start with?

Definitely start off with a 2nd hand one. I had about 4 second hand ones before I bought a new one (which is my "special" one) and I've since bought several more. I tend to leave 1 or 2 at key relative's houses, as they keep asking me to BBQ, and pulling down & transporting kettles was...

Re: Firmware Update GMG Davey Crockett

How can this be done to a non-WiFi model?

Or should I just buy the WiFi upgrade from U/G?

Re: How to Cook the Perfect Steak on Chimney Starter

Lot of effort (and ash on the meat) for what you can achieve with a grate close to the coals and less work.

Isn't the bowl lid just like putting the lid back on the weber kettle ? :)

Re: Weber Rotisserie - best way to do as many chooks as poss

Well the day was quite a success. I ended up making another roti-ring from 2 of the "smash" pizza rings, for a total of 4. I kicked off a couple of hours earlier, with 8 chooks (2 on each rod) double stacked on 2 kettles - so 4 chooks per kettle (which I probably could have done stationary...

Re: Honey Mustard Lamb Glaze

I tried countless times to replicate a stuffed mushroom entree dish at a local modern Italian place we frequent. I could never get it right. As we knew the staff fairly well, I asked the regular waitress if the chef could give me tips, as I couldn't get it to work. She was also a keen cook, so I exp...

Re: Food Safari - Fire

Maeve has a spin-off business doing food safari tours of different "flavours" in Sydney. I've done the Italian one. It was awesome. I've been back many times to the places we visited. Each place had a "secret" or a unique thing that was shown to the group. Sometimes it's a combin...

Re: 1.2. BBQ BOOOOM

We had it on in the background the other night, and I wasn't too fussed whether I saw it or not, as I figured it may be too "mainstream" and watered down for the masses. My 5 year old niece jumped up & screamed - "they have a Weber like yours" whilst pointing to the kettle th...

Take out a win please Hogsy! You'll do well. Just hope the smoke Gods all align & ward off any little hiccups that get thrown up along the way.
