Re: Bbq cabinet

That looks nice. I like it. I'd be looking at adding a couple extra coats of stain on the timber for added protection though. Even if undercover, the humidity could affect it eventually. I really like the durability of the stone tops and makes easy to wipe clean too. Not a bad price for what it is t...

Re: Which BBQ Rangehood?

Can highly recommend the Qasair brand of rangehoods. We've got a large twin motor 1200 wide unit for home and they are supposedly the most powerful and quietest units available. Not cheap ($2700), but worth every cent. I think they are made in Australia too. Their website suggests they may be able t...

Re: hooded vs webber q

Agreed most of us would prefer a large impressive shiny BBQ with all the bells and whistles, and the Q is a very simple and basic unit in comparison. When I was assembling my Q320 I remember thinking, Fark I just spent $700 on a plastic trolley and basic aluminium hood. It probably costs under $100 ...

Re: Stainless Charcoal Grill

Wow, that's pretty impressive. They've even made the grill height adjustable by having the chain loop back over and hook up onto the bars across the back at various levels. 10/10 for ingenuity.

Re: WEBER KETTLE ROTISSERIE ? are they worth getting ???

Wife just spotted the box in the garage and rang to ask if I've bought someything BBQ related. Guess what I just got for Christmas. I wonder if she'll make me wrap it too?

Re: WEBER KETTLE ROTISSERIE ? are they worth getting ???

Thanks Shayne. I was thinking about getting a seperate roti which would have been cheaper, but need to consider the limited storage space I have in my garage. I might draw something up at work and profile cut a deflector on some off-cut aluminium on our CNC plasma. I know we have some 3mm, not sure ...

Re: Involve ya mates

I agree with SM on this. It's actually a good bonding session showing mates you trust them, even if they stuff it up. Like anyone else, no one likes people taking over, but if you ask them to grab a pair of tongs it's all good. Likewise, if I'm the guest I'm happy to sit back and watch unless I'm as...

Re: WEBER KETTLE ROTISSERIE ? are they worth getting ???

Because of this post I was compelled to visit a specialist gas store this afternoon and pick up a weber rotisserie. Looking forward to doing a couple of birds over the holidays. I notice Shayne manages two birds with one set of prongs and uses string to keep everything together. Is the deflector Alu...

Re: First weber - Gumtree score + First cook pics

From memory, I've got mine sitting up as high as possible so that the tripod legs actually lock it in. It's pretty secure if you do this.

Re: Impending New Q320

Thanks Captain. Always room for improvement! It was that windy on Sunday afternoon, it blew the plastic "Weber" curned panel off. I'm surprised it doesn't have any clips to hold in on. I ended up just keeping it off. I was also a bit worried I didn't have one of those wireless thermometer ...

Re: Impending New Q320

Update. Had the Q320 for 2 weeks now and did snags and chops first time around, followed by pizza mid-week. The wife surprised me with some home made dough. It was surprisingly perfect. Did the inverted SS basket, pizza stone sitting up high, and baking paper transfer thingy. All good after 10-15min...

Re: Impending New Q320

Thanks, will do.

The wife is off to the fish markets today to pick up some salmon fillets and baby octopus for tonight.

Hope the rain stops as I'm trying to avoid cooking under the alfresco, and just wheel it off the side into the open.

Re: Impending New Q320

Deal Done. As tempting as some of the discontinued Weber stock was (SP320 @$799), we still went with the Q320. Got a package deal inc cover, trivet, L Pizza Stone, NG, Cleaning Brush, Traditional Hotplate, SS Vegie Basket etc. They've run out of the weber thermometers so I'll have to look at alterna...

Re: Impending New Q320

Thanks for the heads up on the weber thermometer. With regards to the additional hotplate grill, I thought it would come in use for those Sunday mornings where I could cook up some bacon & eggs to save the wife making a mess in her kitchen. I'll let you know how I go over the weekend, as I'm loo...

Re: Impending New Q320

Thanks for that. I'm assuming the large pizza stone, and small veggie basket? At the moment my list includes Cover, L Pizza Stone, Roasting Trivet, Small SS Vegie Basket, Hotplate - Traditional. Is there a thermometer you can recommend that I can try and get packaged into the deal. (and probably a t...
