Re: costco vs bbq galore kamado

I've got the Vision from Costco, and am 110% happy with it. My felt gasket is getting a bit used up, but it has already done a LOT of cooking.

Re: New kamado at bunnings similar to BSK

It doesn't look too bad, but for an extra $139, I would definitely move up to the Vision Kamado from Costco.

Re: heat beads vs charcoal

I have received for free.. and given away a vintage Red Weber, A vintage Green Weber, and a brand new Black Weber with a gas conversion kit. Keep your eyed open, they do come up for free often enough. I also witnessed a perfect vintage red weber get thrown into the steel scrap heap one afternoon.

Re: Low and slow pork - Skin on

Throw that skin back on the BBQ and get the heat up1

Or just nuke it in the microwave, but don't let it go to waste!

Re: Smoke King BBQ Kamado

If you have a Costco nearby, you can pick up the same bbq without a heat deflector or pizza stoner for $639. Also, Costco has a basic lifetime warranty on everything they sell.

Re: Kamado joe what's included and what are the must haves?

I purchase a Vision Kamado at Costco, and have never regretted it. $639 for the kamado, 2 tier rack, and a cover. BEST part is the the Costco Warranty basically says that if you have it for 2 years and decide you just don't like it.. they will give you money back.. for life... Not that i would dream...

Re: Smoking in the Kamado

Pete, Do you want smoked chicken, or chicken with a smokey taste? If you are cooking for a couple of hours, I'd get the temp way down, 75-80C (170-175F). Clean out the Kamado. Add a big cone shaped pile of charcoal. Sprinkle on your woodchip or carefully place a couple of bits of wood. Light the to...

Re: Smoking in the Kamado

After another try at smoking some pork chops and chicken breasts, ...well overcooking them while adding smokey flavour.... I can see that the temperature I am using is way too high for just trying to add a smokey flavour. What temp would work best for a few hours of smoke? I need to keep the chunks ...

Re: Beachside BBQ

A Kamado with Lump Charcoal and a Looftlighter is probably almost as quick to heat up as a gasser. Seriously, light it and go get the food.. ten minutes maximum and it's ready to cook on... Although it does take a long time to cool off. When our gasser at the coast dies, I will seriously consider bu...
