In praise of American BBQ Australia and Austin Bunn

Fanatics Just wanted to call out the excellent Austin Bunn from American BBQ Australia I bought a product from Austin a few months ago. After a few months I was not entirely happy with it. It was not working as I expected and I regretted my choice I emailed Austin and he rang me straight away. He li...

Nearing 40. Having my mid-life crisis with a BBQ.

No response yet so I will try. I have a gasser like this along with a weber, kamado and kontosouvli. From my understanding to smoke you need something with minimal airflow so this may be an issue. I would try a smoker box and give it a go

Kamado incoming

Hi Ferrari - can I ask what was it about the Saffire that swung it for you? I'm in the market for a Kamado and I am looking for something in that size/price range. Cheers I looked at the smoke King which looked pretty good. Unfortunately there were no ones in black available so I thought again. The...

Questions on Saffire Grill pizza stone

Thanks mate. Managed to get the seller to throw in the extender with the deflector and elevator so will give it a try on the deflector. I saw a video on YouTube and it looked like it was done on a deflector so should be ok. Did I saw I am very excited. I held off buying a lamb shoulder today as I wa...

Questions on Saffire Grill pizza stone

Wizards

I was wondering if I can use my deflector as a pizza stone? I imagine if I just ensure it is covered to keep it clean when using it for meats etc it would be fine

Thoughts?

Kamado incoming

Very excited. After looking at the primo, the kamado joe and the Saffire I decided to pull the trigger on a Saffire There are apparently no black ones in Australia at present so waiting for a shipment next week. Got a deflector, grill elevator and extra grill with it. Can't wait to get going. Got 2....

Tell me why not to get a smoke King kamodo

Ok So have decided to get a kamado. Kamodo Komodo is the dream but just cannot justify the spend. Kamodo joe is great but cannot see why it is more than the smoke King. I want something to slow cook, make pizzas and sear steaks. I want a traditional style kamodo so primo xl is out. The only concern ...

Charcoal chicken on Cyprus grill

I finally got round to giving it a go on Sunday. Used a size 16 chicken and rubbed with a mix of season all, Jamie Oliver chicken rub, some lemon and thyme infused salt and a lot of greek oregano. Then basted it with a mix of olive oil, lemon, garlic, salt and more oregano. It was a bit of a pain to...

Where to get nostimini in Sydney's inner west?

Thanks guys. I am in Earlwood which is the cradle of greek civilisation in Sydney so will look around a bit more. I ended up using a mix of the dried oregano (stuff from deli not the crap in jars) season all, some lemon and thyme infused salt from Jamie Oliver and some chicken rub. Basted with olive...

Bbq Week at ALDI

I am going to grab 2 thermometers. 3 year warranty for $20!!! Madness. May not have all the features of a maverick but will give it a go. Chimney is a bargain. I will replace rivets with screws so it can handle more heat

Update after first cook

Well I tried some chump chops on Friday night with sausages. Impressions 1. The charcoal chimney is amazing. Even in the high winds in Sydney on Friday night it lit easily on the wok burner from my gasser. 2. I think the charcoal baskets are not great for direct cooking as they do not cover much opf...
